Something thats bothered me for the longest time is just how tight the AV port is on the original Mega Drive.
If there any kind of modification I can do to make it easier to insert my RGB cable? I can bearly push it in. It goes in far enough to make connection, but the slightest move of the console and it falls out.

It's definitely the right cable as it works if I push it in hard enough. It just won't stay in.

Double check if it's a C or V cause some version of the MD came with either or, and that may be why it doesn't fit.

it's definitely a U shaped port. The cable does go in, but I can only bearly push it in far enough to make a connection. If I move the console at all, it falls out. I've also tried it on a different Mega Drive, and it does the same thing. Maybe a crappy connector?

Just leave it plugged in! This will lessen the risk of damaging the jack inside the console.

I regularly buy and sell mega drives after I mod them so I'm constantly plugging and unplugging the av cable

Screw it, im just gonna replace the crappy DIN connector with a 15-Pin DSUB connector and make my own SCART cable from a VGA cable I have lying around. That way I can wire stereo audio to it too.

I successfully replaced the DIN connector with a 15-pin DSUB connector. I took all the signals directly from the SONY chip and installed my own capacitors and resistors. I now get full stereo, RGB, composite and CSYNC down a single cable. I also installed a switch on the SCART head to switch between composite video and CSYNC. Works great!
