just a couple of quick points i wanted to throw out there.

#1 This game is being worked on, i am doing the "programming" ( in MMF2, lol, is that even technically programming??), as of right now its nothing more than a simple WIP engine, pretty much all you can do is run, jump, shoot and climb ladders with placeholder graphics, but it IS being worked on.

#2 GodofHardcore is going to be one of the main story writers, along with me, as well as a level designer. He actually has some really good ideas, and im not really too good with coordinating a project between a group of people, so hes handling that.

#3 We still need people who want to do art and music, either reply here or PM me or GoH if your interested.

#4 The name of the game if/when completed will NOT be Megaman 9 : the Assembler Version. I would, however, like to put up a screen in the opening sequence that says something to the effect of " Created by members of the Assembler Games forums".

I see you guys saying stuff about GoH's rep and whatnot, but from talking with the guy i can see that he does want to make this a reality, and like i said he does have some legitamately good ideas. Im not going to say " THIS WILL HAPPEN!!!!!" but i will say that im throwing my time and work into it, and if we make a full game, awesome!!! If not, at least we tried and im sure it will be a learning experience for everyone involved. Thanks for your patience as i ramble on:icon_bigg

EDIT: fixed a couple of typos and such.

The first 2 bosses we've come up with is Tennis Man and Bonanza man.

Tennis man looks like a cross between Pharoh man and Cold man with a giant tennis racket jetting out one arm. His weapon is like the gemini laser only they're tennis balls.

Bonanza man is a Cowboy Robot and that's all I've thought up so far.

Well, ive got just about as much done as im going to be able to without any form of graphics and whatnot. Im pretty much stuck until someone comes through with some sprites and backgrounds. as of right now all i have is a very basic engine, all you can do is move, climb ladders, shoot, charge shots, and ive got the screen scrolling implemented. I dont want to put any enemies in or do any form of collision detection yet, at least not until i have some sprites to use, it sucks working on this and seeing nothing but different colored rectangles representing different stuff ( right now MM looks like a two-tone blue rectangle, lol). But yeah, once i get some graphics and stuff it shouldnt be too long before i can get a level editor out there to the the level designers. Like i have said before though, i do work 2 jobs and i have a daughter so i really can only put a little bit of time here and there into this project.

Meanwhile, GOH sits doing nothing at all, just waiting for everyone else to do the work. How does it feel sir?

Alrighty no rush I thought I had a graphics person I'll see who I can gather. When I get some spare time I'll do a mock up of Tennis Man's stage.

I was waiting for the mock ups and things have been crazy for me as well.

GoH, when your doing the Tennis Man stage mock-up, remember that the screen resolution im using here is 1280 x 800, so when designing the level layout try to keep that in mind.

Why not just recycle and edit the sprites rather then make new ones? Wouldnt that save alot of time lol?

I actually was thinking about taking the Megaman sprites from MM8 and using photoshop to resize them and smooth them out a bit, however i suck at using photoshop:icon_bigg

With that said, heres a sprite that I ran through photoshop, and the original that i used for it. i REALLY like the way it looks, but i didnt keep track of what i did to it to achieve that look, and ive experimented on quite a few occasions, trying to recreate the effect, but to no avail! if anyone here who is more knowledgeable in photoshop than me ( damn near everyone on here probably, lol) could possibly tell me what i did to get this look, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

I'm just curious, but have any of you worked with sprite sheets before?

Yes i have, I actually have a lot of sprite sheets for various games. I just used one sprite for messing around with photoshop because it takes less time to process the effects and such with one sprite than with a whole sheet.

    That's my resolution as well.

It will probably be a rough sketch of what the stage will look like. WHom ever our artist is will fill in the backgrounds and what not.

I kinda worded that wrong, i meant to say the game itself will be running in 1280x800, not that my desktop res is at that ( thats actually at 1440x900). sorry for the confusion bro :icon_bigg

I know I'm not 'part of the team', but I had to enquire as to why your 'engine' is set to run in a widescreen resolution as standard?

Just curious really, as you should probably make it support multiple resolutions (and as the programmer, you should probably focus on things like that just now, whilst art and such is still in development).

Have you chaps drawn up a proper development document yet? I mean, I'm not interested in joining your project (Sorry, not a Mega-Man fan, and the thought of using MMF2 makes me die inside a little bit), but I think you'd attract more artists and musicians if you had something to lay out your vision a bit better.

As it stands, you don't really have anything to attract people other than "Hey, we are making our own version of a game series that has too many sequels already. Are you in?", I think you'll need a better hook ;)

Any progress on this? The team seemed so organised and ready to give their all. I can only imagine all the ideas Mr. GoH had. Is this project still alive? What am I saying, of course it is. When's the release date?

i bet everyone actually really enjoys MegaMan 9, so what's the point in doing their own version?

Well before it was released he probably wanted to up-stage Capcom. Of course now that it's out I'm sure he'd rather just play their version.

Bramsworth, you are a bitter, cynical critic, but you made me laugh.
