Hi, i add a multibios in my MCD2 unit. Anything work fine, system boots up. But now i wonder about the functions of this bios. Its regionfree ok, but did i need a switch to switch between the different bios regions? Im searching for a sloder/connection guide, but found nothing. Can anyone help? regards Chris
You don't have a multi bios. You have a region free bios, you do not need any switches for the bios region as there is only one programmed to the chip. Instructions are, remove the original bios and then fit the new one in its place.
I'm pretty sure the only reason to go the true muti bios route is to have the different boot screen/music. And for this reason alone, I've thought about doing it to mine. xD But yeah, we've been blessed with a region free bios. Just pick your favorite boot screen/music and solder in the region free variant of it. Shout out to @l_oliveira for making this a reality.
The Japanese bios is compatible with (almost?) all titles. US/pal bios has issues with some Japanese games iirc
It work now for me, i remember that the PAL bios autostart the disc. The japanese need push start button. So anything fine thanks ^^. Finaly i can give snatcher a try
I'd like to mention the user Raq from this very forum for making the first hack on the PAL BIOS. He was the one who figured out how to remove the lock on the sub CPU BIOS. About incompatibility, I know a few non Japanese games which perform extra checks by their own: Flashback -> Checks if the sub CPU BIOS is the Non Japanese one and hangs if it doesn't like it. (will hang if it detects Japanese BIOS) Sensible Soccer -> Checks the Mega Drive unit region register (nothing to do with the CD BIOS, though) and display a "NOPE" message if the console is not PAL/EXPORT (Europe) model.
