What is currently the best Stereo mod for the MD1 console, i know there is a very simple mode where yo solder 2 wires to the sony chip but thats just the headphone jack amp and is said not to give the best results. So whats the best mod, i have heard people mention an IC amp LM358 chip (is this the same chip used for the N64 internal RGB amp mod?) and wire the left audio to either Pin 1 (Sync), 2 (Comp Sync) or 5 (VDC) for a certain mod but cant see any info or diagrams for this mod??
http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/sega/md-stereo-scart.htm Which is pretty much what you've mentioned but from the socket instead of the chip. You can do it internally as well instead of the ridiculous way it's done in the guide (it's not often monkey takes shortcuts like that). Should be more than adequate, I'm not sure what you mean by "best results" the sound from the headphone jack is surprisingly good.
The sound from the headphone socket can get distorted at high volume levels and can have slight interference. The best method is to do an internal mod apparently, but it wasn't advised to use the headphone audio amp as a source. Just wanted to know where you were supposed to pick the audio up form?
i need to re-do mine as my volume slider is broken, if you take the audio from the chip it should be fine, im not sure where else you would be able to tap the audio from before the chip
Fair do's I guess if you're going for absolute perfection the chip is the way to go, but as to where you tap in I have no idea, someone around here will know. I've never had many problems with mine from the jack but then I never really play mine on high volume.
is it possible to do a digital / optical mod on the megadrive? think i seen some but maybe it was for other consoles.would probably get the best audio that way
I added audio jacks to my Japanese Mega Drive tapping from the amplifier chip, and although it's slightly quiet I find that the overall audio quality is better than tapping from the headphone jack.
Ok here is a post to the mod, viewtopic.php?p=638564#p638564 but it doesnt give a great deal on info about it
