So lately I was planing to have a 50/60hz and Language switch installed to my MegaDrive Model 2 revision 1, now I have not done it so far because for that I would need to connect a wire to leg 107 of the Sega 315 5660 02 chip and I believe most people who tried to do the same knows what i'm talking about, the amount of space I am given is very small and I do not want to make any mistakes even with , I have tried to ask multiple people if they can try help me and they either refuse because they don't want to take the risk or telling me it's a 50/50 chance, Tomorrow I am going to meet with someone and we are going to give it but we are planing to do something different instead of lifting the leg or connecting it to the line on the board that it is connected to, he had 2 ideas that I want to make sure of that might be safer 1. if the leg goes to the other side of the board the maybe the other side won't be as complicated and would give more space, 2. lifting the the copper out of the board. this may seem more complicated but I want to find the safest way to do it. if this ideas are shit and you got a better one then please share. btw I wanted to ask, why is leg 107 usually needs to be cut out from the rest of the board? where does it go anyways?
if you only scratch the trace you need then use flux and the solder will only go to the exposed trace i did a lot of digital lock on satellite receiver this way its very easy. Use very thin wire so it wont pry and lift the trace. 80 pin ide cable is good for this.
ok then, I am not the one who is going to be bringing the wire so i'm not sure how fin it is. also of question if I would solder over the other coated wires around it would the the coating protect the copper? or am I not allowed to let it get close to other connections and have to put the soldering liquid on the exposed copper?
yes the coating will protect it. with flux it will make a nice solder joint on the expose trace and nut touch the othe but yes you can touche the other trace when you solder it. here you can see how to do it. http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/sega-megadrive-2-50-60hz-and-region-single-switch-mod.54571/
