Hi Guys, I've got an issue and was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and can offer some advice. I bought a Stone Age Gamer Mega Everdrive on eBay (not too sure which version) a while back but have only just got around to pulling my Megadrive and the cart out of storage to test the cart. The issue is when I plug the Everdrive into the system it fails to power up. My set up is a Japanese unmodified MK1 Megadrive (one without any writing on the disc/wheel other than 16bit), powered using an official Sega power supply. I also use a Pack a Punch RGB scart cable from Retro Gaming Cables. All hooked up to a 14" Sony Trinitron TV. When I have a regular cart in the system in turns on fine. I don't know if the Everdrive is faulty or it's another issue altogether. For the record the PSU has the following input and output Input : 240v - 50hz Output : 10v - 500mA And the Details of the Megadrive are Model HAA-2510 Rating 13W Many thanks
Are you using a Model 3 power supply with a Model 1 console? 500mA is too low for a Model 1 or 2, which would explain your power issues: http://www.gametrog.com/GAMETROG/Ho..._mk-1602_mk-2103_mk-1479_mk-4122_aa-s95j.html
Yup - wrong PSU. That one isn't for a Mega Drive - pretty sure it was a Master System II. It's certainly not the one that came with the console originally. You need 9V (or 10V) at 1.2 amps. Get one off eBay or your local retro gaming shop - make sure it's the right spec.
Yeah, 9-12v, 1.2+ amps and the most important part - polarity, if it's wrong it's needs to be reversed.
This is one area Sega of America improved. The USA "3008" Master System II adapter, and "MK-4122" CDX adapter, directly state what they are for. PAL versions don't always!
I meant an official one. Use a generic at your own risk! Yeah, it sounds like the 3008... which I'm pretty sure didn't say Master System over here. Always fun going through a big box of Sega PSUs!
