So awesome! I can't believe that after all this time they have finally managed to produce Legends 3. I'll be importing it on day one!
Many manly tears of joy were shed when I saw this last night. After Nintendo announced the price for the 3DS I did not want to get one at launch, but now I'm probably going to have to.
Thats the japanese price, its always higher near launch. For the rest of the world, even $200 would be risky, since the PSP2 might launch around that price.
There is not a chance in hell that this thing retails for less then $230 in the us and that is even a stretch. I'm telling you, it will be $250. Also the psp2 will not be $200. This is Sony and they never learn their lession. $250+ bet on it!
So the 3DS is going to cost more than a Wii, or a base Touch for that matter... On sony, if after the failure of the Go they still go and sell the PSP2 for that much then they deserve to fail again.
Indeed, I wonder then "Why" they are charging so much , when if I remember right the DS was like 150 us $? It's Feature set really isn't all that different apart from the hardware differences and so forth. The only other Handheld I recall besides the GO to cost so much was the PSP 1k when it came out which was 250$ (IIRC) And I bought it at launch. Didn't regret it, but it was expensive for a handheld that only came with a 32mb memory card and 0 games.
Specially considering the HW is nothing to get crazy about: resistive non-multitouch screen, kinda weak CPU, lowres screen, etc... The PSP was lightyears beyond the GBA, but the 3DS? except for the 3D and some augmented reality the games look only slightly better than those in PSP.
I personally think nintendo is being a little cocky off the heals of their success with the DS & the fact there is no public competition from sony just yet. I'm sure they think they could sell it at a premium and get what they can before they have to drop it down some. Other then the LCD, there really isn't any expensive components in the system.
Don't hate me for saying this, but what's the big deal with megaman? I mean they're alright games, but they're not the best platforming has offered - I ve had more fun with dying less, despite you masochists claiming purity on grounds of difficulty.
I agree with you on both points. I think Nintendo believes they can do this and be successful and so they are bumping up the cost of entry. Later it will surely fall but at launch they will get as much profit as they can. I highly doubt $200, I think it will be $250 or maybe more in the US. For the PSP2, I always figured the $250 launch price of the PSP means the next one would cost atleast that much.
