I remember Calpis telling me at one point he was pretty sure one of the emulators out there supported saving for this game which uses serial eeprom. I never could find out that did. Obviously the saving is mainly needed for Wily Tower unless you get a save state.

So anyway, I had heard there was and found an alternate version of Rockman Megaworld that did use SRAM for saving. So I went and compared the 3 versions yesterday and hacked the European Wily Wars to use SRAM as well as changing it to the US region code. I just thought I'd share incase anyone wanted to play the english version with saving support. Maybe you have the tototek flash cart and want to play it on that or something.

I didn't do extensive testing, I just tested to make sure it saved when I beat a couple bosses. I'm pretty sure it works fully though.

I just cleared MM2, have to clear 1 and 3 still but it's neat seeing "ALL CLEAR" on my Mega Man 2 file.

Micjohvan, try it again and if you keep having trouble accessing the site I'll email you the patch.

I tried this rom for a bit. Seems like a fun game, but the music drove me insane. I wonder what happens when you clear them all.

European Wily Wars? I thought it only came out in Australia?

Congratulations on starting a topic in the rare section about a game that actually is rare, by the way! ;-)

I'm pretty sure it came out in the UK. When you clear all 3 games you unlock more levels to play.

It had a European and an Australian release. I don't own the Australian version but the only difference is the added rating mark on the case (unsure whether it's a sticker or printed) and maybe an Australian style English language only manual.

Hmm, cool! I've seen the Aussie version several times but not the European one!

The European release is very rare. A copy was featured on gameSniped not too long ago.

I myself have a Chinese pirate of this game. It's pretty much identical to the Japanese release. The cart itself is in a US, PAL shape, not the megadrive's. The security screws on the back are also filled in.

Only gameplay difference I noticed is the Sega logo in the beginning is cut in a way to not reveal the logo. Im assuming it was done for lawsuit reasons.

I wouldn't say it's very rare, there's at least a copy a month listed somewhere on Ebay. It's more the fact that it very rarely turns up cheap, kind of like Streets Of Rage 3 (abundant but pricey), so most auctions have a buy it now of around £70. There's at least 10 PAL MD games around that are rarer than this one.

you can't really sue anyone for copyright infringement in China afaik, the logo was removed certainly for reasons other than fear of legal consequence.

In bootlegs credits are removed so that copyright *is* ambiguous to authorities during crackdowns.

Sure, if you remove credits from a game the average person could be convinced anybody made it.

    Hello!

Thanks a lot for this patch, I am sure this will be very useful for many Megaman fans, especially when using emulators
Actually I just tested it on my computer with an emulator and just beat Megaman 1 and it indeed saves now just fine also when finishing one game what didn'r work before and now it says "All clear"

However it seems that the patching of the region now makes it for me impossible to use this on a European Mega Drive.

Great for people with a US Genesis I am sure, however now I get a warning screen saying that this game is developed only for NTSC Genesis Systems :eek:h:

So could you maybe also release a patch that only patches the game to use SRAM and not the region?
Or maybe could I just fix this easily by myself for example with a hex editor, would also be ok for me, if you could just tell me what I have to change

    Thanks again and greetings!
