http://opa-ages.com/forums/topic/74634-i-have-a-never-released-genesis-rpg-prototype-rom Says he's willing to part with a rom. I believe he was porting it back in the day.
Yeah that would be me Who are you, elgatotuerto? Are you Fancie? Anyway, I do indeed have a really really unfinished "prototype" of the Genesis version of Lufia...I was working on it for a while for Taito, never got very far, and they eventually cancelled it. I still have the ROM file but can't figure out how to run it.... the ROM is split into 4 BIN files and I think they were meant to be run on a Genesis dev kit and they won't work on any of the emulators I've tried. So I was wondering if anyone might have some idea on how to get to convert them to a workable format...I would gladly share the ROM here if anyone is interested. Thanks
He also posted this: Anyone hear of it? Google brought up nothing. So it's just the title screen and a dungeon. It sounds like he was hired by Taito to port the game over to the Genesis, so I reckon it's all that exists of Lufia on the Genesis. I know some people out there were wondering what happened to it.
The ROM was a bit broken at first, but some guys over there managed to fix it. It's just a demo, the title screen and a dungeon to walk around in. Even so, it's cool there's a remnant of the Genesis version of Lufia! The guy, as far as I understand from reading it, would still be interested in making it available, so fingers crossed! And now I've got the ROM (I guess technically BIN since it's on the Genesis). The guy hasn't decided how he wants to "publically" release it yet, but if you send him a PM on that forum (meaning you'll need to start an account there to do so) with your e-mail address, he'll send it to you. It is indeed really early, and exactly how I described it the first paragraph. Still, a really cool piece of history!
Yes, it is a very incomplete copy of the game, but possibly the only one in existence. I guess it would be more exciting if it were more complete, but I figured people here would be interested anyway.
This is great. Genesis + protos is kinda my thing, so... Gonna have to ass myself to register on the forum later so I can check this out. Hopefully he just comes here and makes a post with a release. Feels like he's over thinking what goes into doing one. It's just a simple matter of posting it and that's it.
