And not for me being an old fart ;-) I am sure I only have 1gb ram and want to up this Where can I find what motherboard etc I have and then what extra ram I need? I am sure from an on-line thing I did a while ago my 1gb is 2x500 so I can either upgrade by 2x1g etc Any help is appreciated
In most case the type of ram is written on them. Just open the computer and take one off and you will know what type of ram you have to buy. If not there is always mark on the motherboard which tells you what model you have. Then google it.
You can always download a free app called cpu-z from here: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php and it will tell you most things about your CPU as well as some info on your Ram and of course motherboard like model.
Run it, post the results and I can give you a recommendation. Regardless of what you have you want to buy from Newegg unless you live outside the US.
