Conan was boring tonight so I decided to take the bleemcast disc I found and test some games out. DOA was not playable sound no picture. The Rest had garbled graphics or weird pop ups where the polygons where there and would color in as they were approached sort of like De Blob. Then I pop in Einhander...music problems aside it looks great as a Dreamcast game. IF Bleemcast had been released it sure would have been interesting assuming of course Sony stayed quiet and we all know like Nintendo of old, Sony loves suing people.
I remember the bleem site was going to sell a shirt that said something like: F(triangle)(square)K S(circle)(X)Y If it had ever gone up for sale I'd have been the first person to buy it. I actually exchanged emails with one the guys working there back then, Sony just kept suing them, losing, then suing them again, until the lawyer fees wiped them out.
The Disc I have has this annoying strobe effect like they were trying to give you a seziure or something. It is a shame it never came out It's a testament to how powerful the Dreamcast really was And yeah Total dick move by Sony a trick they've used several times since.
They did release Bleemcast, in game-specific discs. There was a Gran Turismo 2 one, a MGS one, and a Tekken 3 one. Those are the ones I'm aware of. I think I have the GT2 one and the MGS one.
Do you mean like this? F▲■K S●×Y  I have the official Grand Tourismo and Metal Gear Solid Bleamcast discs which work great. Also there are a few hacked PlayStation games that will run on a Dreamcast since they have the Bleamcast code programmed into them. I have Strider returns and Darius Gaiden. Both work really well. yakumo
The Yabuse Emulator has been ported to the Dreamcast But it's said to run REALLY slow. I have the Tekken 3 Official Bleemcast I was actually in awe of how great Tekken 3 looked. But like I said earlier Einhander was the one that really wowed me but there were far too many glitches. I've yet to find a PS1 game Bleemed that works flawlessly besides Tekken 3
i bought a dreamcast off a guy with a bunch of games, one of them was bleamcast on a cdr that allowed you to play most playstation games, i didnt notice any slowdown but the controls were all messed up. i remember trying to play medievil and getting pretty frustrated not being able to figure out how to control it. what would that have been? there was also a bunch of cdrs that played neo geo games i gave them all away awhile back, but it was pretty interesting.
Neo4All is an amazing little prog. I've tried every single one of my Neo Geo CD's via the boot disc on NTSC and PAL Dreamcast consoles and every one has worked flawlessly. As for Bleemcast!, if you're having controller issues your best bet is to buy one of the Total Control Plus adaptors and use a proper PSX pad, it even supports rumble
I have all three official bleem discs, all three games looked so much better than on the PS1, like it's amazing, the dreamcast emulates ps1 games a million times better than the ps2 does
I think the ideal way to play PSX games is in their original resolution (240p). When you increase the resolution, you see all the shortcuts they took to speed up the game because they took for granted that the resolution would be 240p. Also, the polygon bending is much more apparent when you increase the resolution.
Yeah I remember it was written on the big yellow box for the PC version, they were really trying to let everybody know what sony was doing. About legal fees, well thats why some countries force the loser to pay all legal fees. Sony always sucked at software, which is why both PS2 and PS3 do emulation through hardware.
Actually the newer PS3's do PSX emulation through software. It's pretty much perfect, as far as I can tell.
I thought it was understated that PS2 did PSX emulation through hardware with the I/O processor while PS3 did PS2 emulation by having a PS2 built-in
You should be very careful about calling emulation perfect. Given that it is PS1, I highly doubt it is perfect. Like early N64 emulation, people think it's really advanced because they play the most popular games which are the ones developers spent the most time on getting running. But when you try more obscure games you will start to see the emulation problems. Byuu the author of BSNES has mentioned how this affects alot of emulators. When the focus is to run popular games and run them well, games that aren't popular often have issues. This is why emulating the hardware accurately is better since if done so, in theory all games should then work, even the non popular ones. Generally emulation tends not to be perfect.
That is indeed the case, but la-li-lu-le-lo's post gives the impression that the earlier PS3s played PS1 games with hardare, when all PS3 models have only emulated the PS1 with software; there never was any PS1 backwards compatability achieved through hardware in the PS3.
