I thought we could all post out play times and compare them.

    Mine were

1st Play 16 hours + cut scenes (completed)
2nd Play 8 Hours Without cut scenes (completed)
3rd play 6 Hours Without cut scenes (Act 4)

Spent a lot of time on some of the bosses and got lost a few times, plus killed nearly every PMC in the game.

Going through it again now minus cutscenes but weilding the camera a lot.

First playthrough was 19 hours with cutscenes and all mandatory codec scenes. Granted, about 2 of those hours was just having the game on pause.

Second playthrough so far is 3 hours after South America, and that is with no codec sequences, some pause time, and using tranq. rounds on everyone.

20 Hours 44 Minutes, including all cutscenes & codec conversations.

Raging Raven was so damn annoying.

personally i found raging raven more or less relaxing. really hated the wolf one due to not being able to see much (even with the solid eye on infrared)

It was more due to my incompetance than anything else really. I got into the habit of hammering X to get Snake back to his feet if I was ever knocked down by an explosion. Twice, I was knocked off the building (with Snake hanging off the edge..Raven's HP was also almost completely gone) and..yep, X makes him let go..

   ....:crying:

Vamp is the worst, I spent about an hour last night trying to grab the bastard, he kept elbowing me and I used all my health items...

Somewhere along 17 hours, including codec and cutscenes.

Sucks that the game was short, but this is definantly one of the greatest games I have ever played.

Graphics were insane, Gameplay rocked and Cutscenes were fun to watch, this is the game of the future >___>

Reminds me of old days when we had lots of awesome games coming, like MGS2, FFX, Gran Turismo, GTA, ZOE, DMC, RE, Dragon Quest, and alot more that I forget. All that for one system... incredible...

Uhmm, back on the subject! I advise anyone who owns a Playstation 3 to buy this game immediately.

    10/10 for me ^_^

First Playthrough: 14 hours 23 minutes (including watching cutscenes and codec chats) - Liquid Easy.

Later parts of the game resorted to me doing run-and-gun for the most part (except for a lot of Act 4). Speaking of Act 4, my advice: SAVE OFTEN! I only had a save from after the MGS1 flashback and died much later in the act when dealing with the suicide gekkos. Pissed me off that I had to go back to the post-flashback part of the level.

Graphics were impressive even on my 480i TV.

I did notice a word usage mistake in one part of the text (I forget if it was an install screen or somewhere else). They used "position" instead of "possession" when talking about some regard to weapons.

The only thing I don't understand is why most other game devs can have an involving story like this. FPS are guilty as fuck for this, but other games seem to have ho-hum stories behind them as well (even GTA4).

For the Gekko's a fully charged rail-gun blast to the face will down them in one shot. For the stupid corridor run full of those black ball things, I just used a chaff grenade and ran past them.

Well, I actually ended up wasting rail gun ammo during the Vamp fight and ran out during the gekko fight (and forgot to get more from Drebin). Second time thru, bought as much ammo as I could after getting the rail gun. 3-4 immediate shots will take them down too.

Ended up using a combo of the PKM and dive rolls to get past the black ball pain in the asses. Never once used a grenade in the game.

Shotgun works best on groups of the 3-armed thugs.

Did anyone else nearly break their arm during the "microwave" corridor?

First time through was around 22hrs on normal. Second time was around 14hrs. The hardest for me was trying to get into that damn ship from the bow.

I don't have a clue how I'm going to get the Big Boss emblem. Right now it seems impossible.

About the only suggestion the strategy guide has is to learn the layout and keep practicing, plus skipping all cutscenes and codec chats.

    It does have replayability, though.

Not for everyone. A LOT of people will be playing it just for the plot.
