I was dinking around over in the vicinity of Suprnova.org the other day and ran across a torrent for Metal Slug 2 for Dreamcast. Curious, I downloaded it and burned it to CD. I know that there was no Metal Slug (sadly) for the Dreamcast, but I was also pretty sure a Neo Geo emulator either wasn't possible or hadn't been done on the Dreamcast. I boot this game up, and to my surprise, it is an emulated version of the Neo Geo CD Metal Slug 2! I wasn't aware there were any NGCD emus for PC, let alone the Dreamcast. Anyways, the game has full music but no sound effects, and is reasonably playable, although fairly slow. Still, very very interesting.
. there's NGCD emulator on PC for ages and that's what I used for my NGCD collection. It's fairly stable and speed is good if you run on P4-3.0G. However I wasn't aware of NGCD port on DC so this is very interesting. Still Xbox port runs almost entire NG and CPS2 at full speed. It's so much fun to running MetalSlug on big screen with wireless pad sitting on the couch... cheers
It does have an ngcd emulator..I´ve already helped lots of ppl to burn/play those ngcd games . Here´s a link straight to its page: http://imrtechnology.ngemu.com/emulators.htm Gotta love SDL, so many ports to linux and now DC jumping on it!!
Yeah it's just the ver 6 of the emulator put on one CD with Metal Slug 2. Keep in mind that the newer 6.5 runs Metal Slug 1 and 2 considerably faser. So you may want to burn that and then swap in this disc.
The emu in honesty atm is pretty lame a few games withstanding, its sure getting better. It has "issues" right now, if sorted it could run some good things, tho currently out of my 20 or so games it only runs Viewpoint....erraticly. Should be good soon, best thing is the loading aceness.
Nope. All the Metal Slug games are to big to load into the DC's memory. This is most definately the NeGeoCD version.
