Metal Slug 3 coming to xbox...

Yep just saw an article in my xbox mag.

Funny how im just about finished building my mame arcade cabnet so i can play these type of games, and now I could just get it for xbox. Wonder if they will bring out any other snk titles.

SvsC: Chaos is coming out for Xbox I believe(perhaps with live support?).
FYI Metal Slug 3 has been out on PS2 for a while now(in Japan).
In other good SNK news Metal Slug 4 and 5 and KOF 2002 and 2003 are all coming to the PS2 in double packs.

About your MAME cabinet.
Please tell me your using a real arcade monitor and not a PC monitor.

 

I think the XBox is really really the wrong console for games like metal slug

 

Ya I remember seeing MS3 for the PS2, but I never bothered to get any of the Sony consoles... not againsed them just never interested me enough to get one. So I am excited to see it come to the X.

O and about the arcade cabnet..ya its a 21" arcade monitor. Seems folks say the pc monitor is just to clear and sharp to look authentic.

 

I remember hearing something like this a while ago, and it really confused me. I also think that the XBox console is really the wrong thing to release Metal Slug 3 on, if only that XBox gamers - in a very sweeping generalization allowing for exceptions - are not really the types to appreciate something like that, at least here in the US. I think that of all of the currently "living" consoles the PS2 would be the best, although I'd love to see them follow through on the original rumors of a Dreamcast release.

And we had BETTER get SVC here on something like PS2, I really don't want to hassle with importing BOTH of those games.... :snipe:

 

You can always mod your Xbox and play all Neo games on it...and MS3 on PS2 has some annoying loading times in the middle of the levels....hopefully they'll fix it in Xbox version.

 

I'm sorta mad because I wanted MS3 to come to PS2. It was originally planned but they decided to switch consoles.

But since I heard about the annoying loading times, I guess it gives me a better reason to buy an xbox because chances are, those have been fixed in the xbox version because of the more RAM and HDD.

Blame SCEA for the SNK stuff not appearing on the US PS2. If it refuses to approve a game, said game does not get released.

Thank you for your "exceptions" comment . I own an Xbox, and I love Metal Slug, although I'll admit my experience with the game is rather short (about 5 hours in the arcade while I was on a cruiseship ). It would be nicer for Dreamcast, though...

 

I didn't mean any offense with that comment, but really, mainstream gamers - at least here in the US - are more interested in flashy graphics and such than solid gameplay, and it seems that those who own XBoxes are even more so - at least in my experience with people here. Of course nobody on this board falls under that category, otherwise you wouldn't be here. :smt040

My roomate has a Thai "import" of the game, and I honestly can't say that I've really had any problems with load times at all - it's always been fairly zippy. Not as fast as the arcade, mind you, but nothing bad.

SNK Double Packs

Yeah, Metal Slug 3 was scheduled for summer 2003 for the US PS2. But SCEA would not approve it because of the "outdated" 2D graphics. I guess SNK Neo Geo USA just wants to piss off Sony by releasing it for the Xbox instead.

As for the double packs (Metal Slug 4&5, KoF 02 & 03), they are coming out for both Xbox and PS2 in both US and Japan. SNK Neo Geo USA just released it's game list for E3, so you can read all the US releases info there. By the way, SNK vs Capcom Chaos still seems to be for Xbox only, with Live online play!

Oh, I'm also one of the few Xbox owners that put gameplay over graphics. My last 3 consoles are Saturn, DC, and Xbox. Have a PS2 also, but mainly due to Sega games (Virtua Fighter 4). I would love to see Metal Slug 3 on Dreamcast over the Xbox though.
