Has anyone played this game? I just saw this game posted on another board and checked it out on Gamespot. Its story is basically that terrorists attack the US and the President of the US himself dons this mech and becomes a hero. I saw some vids and I think it looks awesome. What REALLY confuses me is that this game never got a US release. Its got English voices, the US president as a main character, its got plenty of rootin' tootin' machine gun shootin' terrorist killin' adrenaline pumpin' action (doubly confused over this) and the game is so badass looking. I really hope they port this over to the Xbox 360, I dont think we can afford to miss this one.
There was a US demo released at some point, but then the title was cancelled. It only saw a release in Japan.
I also loved the demo and would have gladly bought the full version had it been released in the States. I guess From Software got burned by slow sales of the Otogi games are something. They too were cool looking and highly playable games, but just never appealed to the mainstream crowd.
Its really sad Otogi did not appeal to american gamers. I though they were fantastic (specialy the second one) that not only were well done games but showed some amazing technical achivements (destructable inviroments). I really hope from software gives the game one more shot on the 360. It would be insane to see that game pushing the 360 hardware.h:
I had a love/hate relationship with the Otogi series. I loved the gameplay and artistic style, but some missions really tested my patience (the boat level in Otogi 1 and that fire cavern mission in Otogi 2). Both games received decent scores from the US OXM mag, yet gamers stayed away from it just like the Japanese stay away from video games made by American companies. But yeah, the demo of Metal Wolf is a blast. It's almost amazing that From Software could pull off this sort of performance from the original xbox, I shudder to think of what they'd be capable of on the 360.
Yeah, I have it. I love it's fast pace and rockin' soundtrack. There is NO FUCKING REASON that this game didn't make it here from Japan. Oh well.
There are likely various reasons why From Software decided against releasing it here. Consumers could have viewed it as another me-too mech game (particularly when other games in the genre like Gun Griffon and Marukamo didn't sell well), the slow selling Otogi series, lack of a publisher, or perhaps marketing focus tests just didn't deliver the sort of feedback results that From was satisfied with. But who knows, perhaps it'll resurface later on in the Xbox's life sort of like Yager and Malice. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
