I was open minded when I first hard of this then I hear this 30 second clip

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9RWE0gfu4U

The Fuck is this? Lou Reed just sounds out of place here.

At least it's better than that time they did a song with Ja Rule...I'd prefer to forget that even exists.

But hey Metallica can do whatever Metallica wants to do. If Metallica did an album in the 60s-70s Psychadellia style I'd buy the Metallica album that sounds like the Pink Floyd Album

Sounds terrible, like something that would be on The Simpsons as a parody.

I pretty much hate every kind of metal. I kind of like Lou Reed though, so this disappoints me.

Lou Reed hasn't been relevant since 'Berlin' so why drag him into the now nearly 40 years after his last good work? And even 'Berlin' isn't a patch on his early Velvets stuff. Add in the fact that Metallica have never even covered a 'Velvet Underground' song and you seriously have to question the legitimacy of this release.

So, was anyone actually expecting this to be anything more than horrid?

Both Reed and Metallica have been shit for years now. As soon as they started appealing to the ''ALL BLACK, SO METAL!!!!1!'' crowd they started blowing ass.

I'm not that familiar with Lou Reed's work but one of my all time faves is Metallica and while Reload was shit and St Anger's sound can be achieved by banging on a trashcan
I Think Death Magnetic was their strongest album since the Black Album.

S&M was great too and Garage Inc Showed Metallica's range as musicians they can do Metal but they can do Country/southern Rock and even Punk.

AND we have 30 seconds of 1 song but there's a full song that I'll present as a proof of concept that this might not all entirely suck.

By the way Metallica's best Album was their last with Cliff MASTER OF FUCKING PUPPETS

it should be law for everyone to have a copy and for everyone learning guitar to at least know the beginning of Battery

Maybe, but that's like saying Episode III is the best Star Wars prequel.

I'd hold Death Magnetic up there with anything they've done prior to Load and I do like Load as an album too it's not pure metal like the die hards wished it was but musically it was a good album.

Reason Death Magnetic is so good?

    Rick Rubin

    Reason Load-St Anger were MEH

    Bob Rock

    my opinion anyway
