http://www.comingsoon.net/news.php?id=4202 Well, it's got John Woo producing and possibly directing, but seriously, how many videogame movies HAVEN'T sucked? I don't want to get my hopes up TOO much, but still, the idea.... :smt040
There is also apparantly a live-action Neon Genesis Evangelion in production. http://www.dvdtoons.com/headlines/64 The special effects are apparently done by the people that did the LotR movies. Concept art: http://www.cgnetworks.com/story.php?story_id=1901
Apparently this has been in the works for a bit now - I'm really looking forward to what they are planning with the live action. I suppose I should hurry up and watch the End Of Eva before it's released, huh?
This surprised me because the last I heard about John Woo he was going to make Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I really don’t think he can pull it off but who knows. Personally if it was me I’d get Alex Proyas to direct it. He did the movie Dark City which was a really creepy and different 50’s Sci-Fi movie. Oh he also directed the Metroid Prime commercials which showed how kickass a Metroid movie could be. As for the Eva movie I think that it is going to suck bad. Really bad. They picked the wrong movie to kickstart the Hollywood anime bandwagon. There is no way they can coherently tell that story in two hours and with a PG or PG-13 rating (There is no way they will do this as an R). Hell, they could barely explain it in 26 episodes and two features. At least it will look good though since Weta who did the LOTR is doing the CGI.
I was looking at the concept images for the Evangelion movie and thinking this is going to rock, then I saw the character designs... "Ray" for Rei "Kate Rose" for Asuka "Susan Whitnall" for Shinji...? possibly Misato...? Oh well, at least with Metroid there hasnt really been much in the way of cut-scenes to set standards on...
That movie is.. beyond words. It's insanely fucked up. There's no concievable way for them to pull this off in a good way. It's too Americanized for that. Besides, if Pen Pen isn't in the movie, what's the point of even seeing it? :smt009
John woo? I wonder if he's going to cast Jet Li or J-Lo to be Samus. I swear his last five movies BOMBED at the box office. I guess he wants to bomb another great game.
Saw this on gamespot a few days ago aswell as the soul calibur movie - but didnt think it was worth mentioning as game movies generally suck :toimonster:
Hahahah yeah, seriously! I can imagine the producers/scriptwriters in their meeting (possible spoilers) "Hmmm... how shall we open this one then guys?" "Well, ******** is in hopsital in a coma, lets have ****** come visit then make him beat off over ********!" "Genius!" "They wont see that one coming!" "Neither will ********!" "Hahahahahahaha" "Hahahahahahaha" "My wife left me..."
Battle Angel You know back in the early to mid 90's James Cameron expressed a very strong interest in producing a Gunnm based movie... and that's ACTUALLY where his inspiration for that short-lived series Dark Angel came from... ~Krelian
Ah man why are they going to fuck up the best anime ever. I mean how the hell are they going to fit in a story off almost 800 minutes into 1 movie without fucking up the entire story not to mention the end of evangelion movie that rocked so fucking hard. :Hangman:
Eva is good, but not as great as some people say. I'd say 8.7/10, but not 11/10 as some people I made it out. My biggest problem with it: lack of dynamic characters....you'd think they'd learn or something!!!!! ARGGGH That is why I saw Rah Xephon as such a fresh breath of air (lol I haven't bought the next dvd in sooo long...i think i have the first three) because it was like eva....but only better animation and the characetsr *gasp* changed as time moved on But as for the movie...I was thinking the same thing~ maybe i'll be like end of Eva or something, or just a totally new story. Ethier way I think it is going to be totally "fanfiction" as far as staying close to the main story is concerned G
Well actually, I quite liked the Resident Evil movie... not much in terms of depth but a light, fun movie nonetheless
