Whilst trying to run an NTSC copy of Metroid Prime, in 480 progressive scan, through a softmodded PAL Nintendo Wii (booting the game with Gecko OS and also with NeoGamma), i get an odd flickering during the opening FMV sequences (please see youtube video).

Does anybody have any idea why this is happening? I have already replaced the power supply after doing some scouring of the net and finding info on 480p flicker sometimes being caused by a dying PSU. So i got a new replacement direct from Nintendo. The issue still remains. My TV is definitely 480p compatible as i've run a PS2 on it in 480p for years. I've also tried it on another TV, a 2 year old Samsung LED which is also 480p compatible, with the same problem remaining.

    Is my Wii dying finally?

Pay attention to the animation on the start screen, it is looping too frequently, the 'flicker' is part of the FMV, you're just not supposed to see it every 2 seconds.

As you have a modded Wii and the original disc you would be better off ripping the game to SDS or HDD and playing it through Devolution.

The flickering in the start menu is normal but not the flickering in the game.
Have you tried switching to the other video modes?
Wip out the composite cable and see if it does the same too.

Also try to turn off some enhancement settings on the tv, like noise reduction and such.
