Microswitched Game Boy d-pad & buttons?

Hi

With my Game Boy and 2 Game Boy Colors suffering from double-pressing start buttons and my Game Boy Color having an unresponsive down direction, I'd like to know:

Anyone out there capable of modding a Game Boy or Game Boy Color to have a microswitched d-pad and/or microswitched start/select buttons?

Having seen Ashens' joysticks video, I understand the difference between contacts and microswitches, and although I'm aware that such a Game Boy mod may not have already been done, surely every console mod so far had to start somewhere, right?

 

It's possible and should be pretty easy too
