That game store he was in looked awesome. I could just sit there all day ogling at the stock. I'm totally buying this when it comes out. it's like Megaman and Kirby combined, but in the best way possible.
Bumping old thread because after raising a whopping $3 million dollars and getting a deal for an animated series (already in development! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmY3jd0z8ho) they are now asking for more money! From you! They are trying to raise an additional $100,000...for voice acting, see http://www.mightyno9.com/ What in the world are they doing? Does anyone remember how bad the voice acting was in Mega Man 8 for PS 1? (Dr. Wowie!) Why can't someone on the development team provide the voice? They don't have money left over from 3 million dollars to have someone speak into a mic? Did anyone hear back the project originally? What do you guys think?
Here is an unpopular opinion as I'm known for: I've believed that Mighty Number 9 was somewhat disgraceful since the start. Inafune, contrary to popular belief, did not create Mega Man (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/tgs-07-mega-man-celebrates-20th-anniversary/1100-6179759/). In addition one of the proto names for MM was Mighty Kid. I acknowledge that Inafune has been part of key staff for select MM games, but he is still stealing. I wouldn't accuse him of it if the game played less like MM and didn't resemble him so fucking much.
The Voice acting in Mega Man 8 was bad becuase Voice acting in games was still new at the time ALL games at the time were poorly acted be it in FMV cut scenes or voice simply becuase they didn't put the money into hiring voice actors that knew what they were doing. The Voice acting is just as bad in Japanese in Rock Man 8 and X4 as it was in English. after the Extra 100k is raised for Mighty No 9 they hinted that if they get more than 100k they might beable to get the game out to retail.
Even if I had put MM9 (which I didn't and now spelled out the name) the rest of the post is blatantly talking about Mighty Number 9. And voice acting had been invented much before video games fyi.
Voice acting in Megaman/Sonic games is bad for more reasons than just, "it's bad." it just doesn't fit with those games. Tell the story some way else, either through short amounts of text, or ideally, with game play.
Great Now I have to drag my ass downstairs and edit that post because I misread Mighty no 9 as Mega man 9. Still how can you not be excited about a new Mega Manesque game? Who cares that inafune didn't QUITE create Mega Man and that he was just the guy that came up with the name and design that's CREATING HIM. Doesn't make him any less iconic, Also the fact he's making Mighty No 9 means he's doing something Capcom won't...listening to fans.
There is no problem in making a MM inspired game, but Beck and Call have close to no originality in their designs (what would you expect from a company called Comcept?) The game still has Robot Masters under a different name, and Inafune has unabashedly said there are no similarities between his new creation and Capcom's IP. "We were one of the most successful Kickstarters give us more money please." Sure Mighty Number 9 will likely the new Mega Man game people yearn, but sidescrolling MM has been done to death. The MML formula has more potential wish Comcept would've done that instead. Capcom did irk me by cancelling MML3, but made it up to me by bringing two MH games to US 3DS.
So? what is the problem? He's doing what Capcom refused to do. Give us a new Mega Man game. It's better he do it than some French Canadian douchebag whose concept of Mega Man level design is make it hard as fuck and ask questions later.
Mercenary Kings which also was backed by Kickstarter had a ton of voice clips in the game and a fraction of the budget. The fact that they were able to get a deal for an animated show proves that they no longer needs public funds. Can you imagine if Oculus Rift, with its now Facebook backing, came back with a Kickstarter?
Seems this forum still attracts grumpy people like it always has. A few tone it down, 3 or 4 more show up to take their place. If Inafune wants more money, His REAL FANS the true fans will give it to him. The animated series isn't funded by Inafune or Comcept, the production company doing it is doing the show totally on their own with their own funds. so HA
People who do not agree with you on this must be haters huh? I don't agree with you, however I've been civil and reasonable (which isn't common in gaming forums).
