Here is the recently cleaned MINI Naomi cabinet. I need to remove the monitor and re-seat the bezel as it is metal, but held in the main cabinet by a wooden frame. This frame has moved by 5mm and the monitor dropped in the cabinet, forcing the metal frame downwards, stopping the hinged lid from closing properly. Had to drill the lock out as it had jammed closed.

Other than that, after a good clean it's looking good.

Wow they look great, so clean. I love the point blank side art.
I have to find time to get my MVS cab cleaned to your standard.

Unless im mistaken thats a Who wants to be a millionare cabinet, you can see the original purple colour of the top vac form under neath, Those cabs are soooo heavy, (used to deliver them..) is it a pentranic moniter, or wells gardner? Very over engineered cabs and very strong, pentranic moniters had good res but poor lifespan.. Looks great though, top stuff:nod:, out of interst Point Blanks were called Gun Bullets in Japan.. Gun Bullet2 is a nice cab..

Those are JPM cabinets. When I called JPM they had NO idea what I was talking about, however they are official Sega jobs.

I have found the Who Wants to be a Millionaire cabinets on eBay for about £100 before now, but you need a hefty license to operate those and my brother is going to be using this in his business and thankfully it's exempt!

Looking better now it is complete and new Naomi board inserted

I was lucky... It looks like the piece that is faulty broke early in the units life. The owner was not technically minded and had other cabinets, so pulled a cover over the top and left it. The counter stopped at 620 shots... Given the age of the unit this is incredible as a similar unit I have opened was stuck at somewhere around 120000 shots in the same sort of time frame.

In other words, the unit is almost brand new. Side art on both sides is almost mint. A couple of scratches (suspect from transportation).

Fairy washing up liquid, water and elbow grease!

The internal electrical parts I used Pampers Baby Wipes seriously, they work wonders and the fluid quickly evaporates leaving nothing behind.

Externally it was just Fairy washing up liquid and water. Windex Window cleaner on the glass. Pledge polish to get rid of stickers! (That's another handy tip) If you ever have any stubborn stickers, then Pledge (or perhaps other brands of) polish lifts them and destroys the glue. It takes a bit of time, but they come off.

Anyone not convinced that Baby wipes would be any good. Here's before and after shots of the PSU.

Yeah, I am a fan of the Naomi, it is so easy to use and the NUC are superb cabinets. The only downside is the monitor (although I also wish the BIOS wasn't under the cart).

I remember watching a video on YouTube of someone swapping out a faulty monitor. Grabbed the old one, placed in on the floor, picked up the new one, slotted it in! Bingo! So easy!

I have had to do it twice now...

A: Use gloves - that metal is like a razor!
B: The monitor weighs a TONNE!
C: Once you have lifted it OUT of the frame, handle with extreme care as you could just snap in two!
D: When you finally manage to pick up the new monitor, good luck in being able to slot it into the frame without catching fingers, cables or busting your balls on the CP!

He made it look so easy!

So, this myth that it's a simple process of replacing the screen OR going from horizontal to vertical (schmups) is bollocks!

    Buy 2 cabinets!!!

First film I really enjoyed as a child was Jaws and I can still watch it over and over.

Yeah, I only discovered how useful baby wipes were because I have 3 kids already and I was cleaning an old Atari ST and just decided to try one on it. Worked and I have been using them since. You have to find your 'wipe of choice' as some are too watery, but the Pampers ones are good. Don't go for cheap brands as they are abrasive and the fluid runs out of them. You need a wipe that is more soft fiber than fluid!

You'll know what I mean when you start using them.

This the cabinet as it ended up. New Sanwa buttons and joysticks, although they were non-standard and I had to change the way they fitted within the CP. I've also added 2 new buttons (1 extra per player) to extend the number of titles this unit can play. Just bought a 30mm hole punch tool to add a fourth button to bring it up to speed!

I also removed the awful Virtua Tennis graphics and just slapped on a Sega sticker from an eBay store. It looks ok, but I am going to fit a back light and a white plastic sheet to the rear so that it looks a bit more professional.

It's not everyone's cup of tea. The monitor size for example is less than you'd like on a cabinet of this size. Mini it might be, but my GOD it weighs a ton!

It also needs a respray which will have to wait until Spring now.

Yeah, the orange is a bit.... intense! It was sprayed this colour initially by Sega to match the Virtua Tennis finish.

    It's anything but subtle!

which reminds me, I have to castrate my cat so it doesnt piss all over my electronics, God forbid!

Lovely piece of Arcade machinery there by the way, I wish I had the space and the patience (and apparently the might) to toy around with arcade stuff =(
