MINI NES for trade. Not even assembler has this one!

Discussion in 'The ASSEMblergames Marketplace' started by kotsos, Jan 3, 2005.

  1. Heaven forbid we have people sharing their experiences where pricing or rarity is concerned. Not to say there's anything wrong with this item (as I have no clue to its value), but I'd hate to buy a piece of kit for a greatly inflated price because nobody spoke up due to the rather oppressive stigma that's been going against this sort of thing lately. I say, if people aren't aggressively trying to keep others off a sale, then let them comment that an item isn't as rare as claimed, or that they have seen it a lot cheaper - it helps keep sellers honest, and is usually a good thing for the buyer if info on rarity and price of items is common knowledge rather than being silenced.

I thought that sort of sharing was part of what this board was about, anyways.

Not to say that this item isn't rare or expensive, kotsos, I was just commenting in general on what seems to be a rather recent animosity towards anyone having the audacity to question prices in a sale...

News to me. Seems like it really depends on who's selling. I know I'm going to open a whole can of worms by saying this (and no disrespect to the seller in question), but for instance when a well respected member of the community here was selling a game for $77 when it can be picked up from eBay for $10-15, not a single person made a comment about it. To his credit, he did lower the price a bit to $48 after a short while (maybe his conscience got to him) at which point he did sell it. Point is, that there was no-one speaking up in regards to the price, since it was a "friend" that was selling it.

    Double standards, methinks :smt083

I've had plenty of potential sales "corrected" so obviously I have no friends... :-(

Haha, well, maybe I'm wrong then. Still I think the seller should have the right to ask whatever price (s)he sees fit.

Funny how though this never works the other way, ie. everyone keeps their mouth shut if someone is selling something really cheap. Seems to me like there's just a load of cheapskates on these forums that don't want to pony up the cash ;-)

True to some extent, I paid £2 for PAL SF3, I would'nt have thought twice about giving the guy £70 as that was it's "real" value.

kostos mate, you may want to make a new post for your sale, I will delete this one once you do, we have taken it too far into O/T already.

Guys guys too much excitement for nothing. Trading something is quite different from selling. When I made the list of what I consider a good trade I did not imply that the Mini Nes is as valuable as a Test PS2 console. I merely suggested that if someone has a big collection of dev hardware (in whatever condition even if not working, if you noticed I did not demand that the condition of the trade is to be excellent or good for that matter). and desperately wants the NES clone then I would be prepaired to exchange it. As far as price is concerned I would rate is along the lines of 60-70 USD. I am not crazy to ask for hundreds of dollars for the system but you have to admit that you probably haven't seen one of these lying around. Also when I say rare I am pointing out to the fact that the clone is almost identical to the real thing. Thus this is not just another Famiclon as it stirred up a huge reaction from Nintendo itself because of its looks. I hope this halps clear out any confusion caused by my post. I know that I am a beginner collector and I am not very reputable but I know a rare item when I see it.

If only it was the same wih the famicom, for every interesting clone (ok, interesting to some people) there's 10 or 20 famicom look-a-likeys... or I suppose that's how it used to be. Now it's all horrible joypad clones and fakey playstations etc.

In one of the flyers that was in a Famiclone system I bought it had pictures of all the units they did including Famicom, NES, Super NES, Playstation, Playstation 2, Megadrive, Megadrive 2 and Nintendo 64 lookie likes, the one that caught my eye though was a Wondermega lookie like... Wish I could find somewhere to buy it, ah well I'll get my Chinese friend to keep an eye out. :smt022

Anyway Kostos, now that hazing ritual is over, welcome aboard!

If I had $60 I'd buy the Mini-Nes, but unfortuantely, I do not. Please don't let this thread disuade you from posting clones in the future through.

Honestly, GSL, there's a difference between haggling/lightly suggesting and some of the stuff that goes on here. I don't have a problem with people saying " I've seen them go lower/cheaper. Good luck selling it" but then there's the realm of what I call "being an ass" and not really helping anyone at all.

Not calling anyone an ass, mind you, I've been one before as well. ;-)

Just my 2 cents worth...Being in a community such as this it is difficult if at all possible for someone to sell a unique item that nobody else has. Among the hundreds of collectors in the forum it is bound for someone to have the item in question. Of course this does not imply that the item is not rare. Afterall we are all collectors here (or at least the majority is). So what I call rare, someone else may have a couple of the same items in their basement. Rarity is sometimes subjective and we are all mature enough to make our own decisions for what constitutes a rare item. I am not insulted by the people who equate the NASA clone with other Famiclons that were produced by hundreds of thousands, nor by people who hate Famiclons in general. This is their opinion. I have decided to keep the Mini Nes and I might consider putting it up for bids on Ebay. I will see. Thank you all for your comments.

It could very well be rare, and sought after but to say one'd never see another... theres a big difference.

One i doubt if someone here spoted this that they wouldnt say something and two i really doubt there was someone stupid enough to buy it if its on ebay all the time at that price in the same condition....

And of course Paulo, let's not forget those who just lurked on the forum for over half a year, noticed this overpriced item but didn't post about it ;-)

Nem, you're relatively new here to us as you've been lurking. To you, you probably feel like you know us as much as we know each other if you've been reading for so long. I'm sure you can understand that when someone posts as if they are an old member of the community, yet they have few posts to their name, some of the members who have posted more substantially may get a little offended. Still, glad you're posting now - everyone's as welcome as the next person.. so if any of the longer standing members seem a lil narky with you, we don't mean it ;-)

Kotsos - for a newcomer, you've been great in your attitude to all our suggestions and criticisms :smt023 I'm sure you'll make a valued member of the team. Good luck with the ebay sale if you go ahead - remember to post it in the ebay thread in this very forum ;-)
