Sorry I wasn't sure where this would be best located. But heres my story. I brought King of Fighters 99 Evolution for the Dreamcast on ebay the other day and today it arrived. It seemed fine and looked pretty much new tbh. But putting the disk I'm greeted with Dream match which was the game before this (1998). Shocked by this I picked up the box to see if I had made an error or not. Nope Evolution box, Evolution manual and it even says Evolution on the disk! I'm wondering if anyone on here could shed some light. Miss prints on the Dreamcast happen?
Was it KOF99 Evo with the white cover? (dorikore). Its a known print run botch up, They made the first print run and distributed them and realised slightly late they cocked up and duplicated the wrong game on the disc.
False pressings can happen, maybe your game was printed shortly before/after they stopped the production of the predecessor. In anther forum some guy told about his Pink Floyd "The Wall" vinyl LP being a false print as well. While disc 2 was entirely intact, the B-side of disc 1 was filled to the top with 70's Motown songs from various artists ^^
Yeah its the re-release the white cover one. Gahh thats frustrating suppose it only cost me five pound haha. Thanks for the quick reply. I take it these are pretty rare then? Edit ave thats hilarious. Its pretty bad when they mess up though :')
Capcom fucked up the Strider 1&2 North American release. When I bought it from them I found that the disc labeled Strider 2 contained Strider 1 and vice versa. I emailed them and got a response that basically said, ya we fucked up and they are all like that. Claimed some kind of communication error with manufacturing. So while it's probably uncommon it's definitely not unheard of.
The people who print/manufacture things are usually pretty... awful, but you look worse saying "well, it's their fault".
First print run of Tomb Raider for PC (iirc green discs) had all audio tracks cut off after 30 seconds. Which was kinda dumb since the speech in the cutscenes was all contained in the audio tracks, you couldn't follow the storyline
