I felt a great disturbance in the Hoonage, as if millions of ricers suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced... Fucking sucks to be a car enthusiast these days, with all those retards still buying bigass wasteful SUVs means companies can only build hybrids to offset the abysmal CAFE rattings they get from gas guzzlers. So, sport cars everywhere are getting the axe...
Yeah, its fucking awful. In Japan most people buy some stupid shitty little box car or you see idiots driving around in a people carrier ( big van like car for 6 to 8 people) with only one person in it. Because of these people carrier idiots and people in the US driving gass guzlers it's really hurting those who honestly like cars and understand them. I mean, why the fuck drive a bloody 6 to 8 people carrier to work when only you are driving. Ah, but you are probably saying it's for the family. NO, Japanese families are on avarage 4 people. My wife wanted my to get one of these people carriers but there's no way i'm driving one of those wasting a crap load of petrol and going nowhere.
the way I read this is that they're gearing up in preparation for future legislation that might limit the personal use of petrol cars. By introducing and supporting environment-friendly cars they want to become a wholesome name for their larger audience - at the expense of losing their petrol hungry customers.
A porsche boxster gets better mileage than a fourbanger accord, and it's hardly designed for sipping fuel... Idiots that drive like shit dont need a mustang to do that: last time I was in spain the shittier the hatchback the shittier the driver. Let alone that those idiots would buy the base 90HP model and load it with all the extra heavy body kit crap to make it look like the sport version, kinda missing the point that what it makes that one fast is the 230HP turbo engine, not the shitty stickers. And the EVOX is the only mitsu car buyers give a crap about, their other models are utter shit, they make new hondas look like ferraris. Even the electric Miev is a little turd compared to the nissan Leaf, and isnt much cheaper either. BTW there were plans for a hybrid EVOXI, but thats gone too, right when every other performance brand is going that way.
Hmm Mitsubish L200 was nice though untl they made it uglier in 2005/2006. We used a Warrior version for kitchen fitting the double cab and could fit all kinds of shit in th back It is still a shame no more Evo though, but the only people who them around here are drug dealers and tossers anyway.
When I saw the title I thought it had something to do with cell-phones. Yeah, I'm not much of a car enthusiast, but I really enjoy driving my car (aside from dodging idiots on the road). My car is a 2006 Suzuki Forenza. Just a little black sedan. Nothing too special, but it looks pretty nice, and the part I really love about it is that it has a stick-shift. I absolutely hate driving cars with automatic transmissions. You have so little control, and you can't accelerate nearly as fast. I was raised on motorcycles, so I was already used to the idea of shifting when I drove my first car, which was a... '96 I think? Nissan truck. That thing was so small it handled like a bicycle. Anyway, the point of all this (which I kinda forgot whilst writing it) is that I prefer smaller cars. I like my car to be nimble, and you don't really get that with a 10 ton Hummer. Large cars also make the roads more dangerous for everyone else; they're so heavy they could easily crush a car like mine. And then there's the issue of gasoline usage and CO2 emissions, etc. etc. I've always kind of wanted a sports car. I can push my Forenza pretty far, but it definitely has its limits. Oh well, one day.
For a sports car, it seems that the Boxster gets pretty good MPG but it doesn't beat an accord. Boxster is 19/27 MPG Accord is 23/34 MPG Source: http://autos.yahoo.com/2010_porsche_boxster/ http://autos.yahoo.com/2011_honda_accord_sedan/
Unfortunately, sports cars are a luxury item with less practical usage than an SUV (at least, in the mind of the consumer) in a period when most consumers is going crazy about money-saving. As such, whilst the top-end manufacturers who produce a small amount of cars won't suffer (as those who can afford it can still afford it), the mid-range sports car for the common person will decline as their market turns to more practical things. It's not MPG, it's not that people have fallen out of love with sportscars, it's just luxury in a time of belt-tightening.
It's sad, but to be honest I speculate that this is due to the fact that the suburu sti sold a hell of a lot better in the U.S. So since it tanked here they decided to axe it. I know it sounds ridiculess cause you have the european and japanese market, but let's face it it's a disaster when your biggest car doesn't sell well in the U.S. But yeah sports cars are coming more scarce these days (especially with oil prices). I find it funny here in the U.S. bmw putting more and more commercials on tv. I predict in the future you will only be able to get a good sports car from all the luxury manufactures. And yakumo good thing you took a stand on that van, you would of definitely been on the uncool wall on top gear.
That's not exactly true, now, is it? We don't know what that means yet. Sure, they might keep the name and turn it into an eco family saloon - but they haven't said that. Who knows? Oh yeah, those awful gas guzzlers... like... oh wait, THE EVO X!!! 17mpg city / 23 highway? That's appalling! My friend's Ferrari does better! In fact, a Land Rover And, of course, we all know that those figures are rarely ever achieved in real life. So how is the Evo any better to those big American cars? Or SUVs? Oh, by the way - Subaru Outback. An SUV crossover made by a company that makes another popular rally car. Also 2 litre like the Evo X. Fuel consumption WAY better than the Evo - 36mpg urban to 50mpg extra urban. Honda CR-V, one of the most popular crossover SUVs, top model (2.2i-DTEC EX with Advanced Safety Pack Performance) 35mpg urban to 50mpg extra urban. Toyota RAV4, another popular SUV. Top model (SR 150 2.2 D-4D) 32mpg urban to 45mpg extra urban. OK, those are UK stats and I assume the other is US, but then Clarkson said it did 19mpg combined, so I assume he was talking UK (seeing that he was writing an article for a UK paper at the time). Oh yes. Curse those people who want to grow up, settle down, have a family, choose a sensible, spacious, safe car and get double the mileage of a sports car! The kind of sports car that probably will be driven by a twat on the road at excessive speed and crash into their family in their SUV! How inconsiderate they are!
