Wow, 30 prototype designs for something that is only a piece of plastic? It's too much for me. I'm talking about, how hard can it be? They don't have to fit any circuits inside or anything, they just need a place to put the wiimote and that's it...
And not once did they think... "Hang on a minute, my arms hurt holding this stupid think up in front of me all the time... lets build a nice base for it, and lets garnish it with a couple of working pedals..."
It must be fun getting paid to design and test stuff like this I think it's safe to say that -as usual- more proficient gamers will be playing with the GC pad. Better snag some more wavebirds lads.
If you don't like using the wiimote to drive just use an standart gamecube wheel, personaly I prefert playing with my good old WaveBird like with SSBB
A friend of mine just chimed in to tell me that the game does not control like Excite Truck, and that he went straight for the classic controller. I will still give it a go, though. Even though hearing that the controls are not as awesome as Excite Truck is a bit of a let down Also, if holding the Wii remote makes your arms tired... then wow. Someone actually must be contributing to the "weakling nerd"-image (actually, it's beyond weakling...) ;D
The ONLY Racing games that work well with the Wii Remote so far are Excite Trucks which uses it in a bike fashion and believe it or not, Need for Speed Pro Street which uses it like a car. I must admit that the controls on the Need for Speed game are VERY GOOD ! Don't listen to what IGN say. They talk shit. Get in to the game and you'll find that after some car tweaking you'll be driving like a pro. And this is coming from someone who hates E.A. ! Yakumo
