Even if it is, you can't help but give a tip of the hat to a 13-year run. O_O I haven't seen anything for Xbox/Gamecube in a retail shop since early 2008 at the latest.
Our last hopes could be FIFA and PES. PS2 version mentioned in their press releases without much info.
12 years - it was released in 2000 in Japan. It's funny, despite being very popular in its time, there doesn't seem to be much love for the PS2 these days. It's as if people have just forgotten about it.
Most stores in Australia are selling PS2 games for half price or even less $2-$5 per game. My friend and I have been snatching them up and even if they're crappy games it's good to keep the cases and what not. However the shelves for the PS2 games are very slim it's around 2 rows and it's around 4 games per row, a few used copies of games are hanging on... for around the same price. It's pretty noticeable the Playstation 2 is finally coming to an end, has it completely stopped in Japan though?
The last game released in Japan for the PS2 was Winning Eleven 2012 in November, 2011 so I think we can say that the PS2 is now dead in Japan
Wonder when the PSP will finally die. Well, I guess technically it's been dead for years, so more like "when is someone finally gonna put a bullet in that walking corpse's brain".
The PSP is not selling too well in America but in Japan it is still outselling the Xbox 360, by over 10 to 1. In Europe the PSP is outselling the Vita and DS. In Japan the PSP has 3 of the 5 best selling games at the moment across all formats... so it is not dead by a long chalk yet...
Is it really that much of an achievement to outsell the 360 in Japan? The PSP is not outselling the DS in Europe, I think you meant to say 3DS. Also, look at how low the sales numbers were for every game in Japan last week: even #1 on the list only sold about 53,000 copies. Yes, the PSP still lives on in Japan, but it's safe to say that in the West it's dead as a platform other than as something cheap moms will buy for their kids. A look at the planned release list for PSP confirms this.
