ive been trying some of these mmorpgs and im having a hard time seeing the point. ive been playing or played silkroad online, maplestory, runescape, and trickster. i bought world of warcraft but havnt played that one yet.

all these games are incredibly boring. the leveling or grinding is insane compared to any rpg ive ever played...and there is little payoff. i mean if i had to sit in front of the computer and go through repetative motions over and over and over again, id rather masturbate.

ive tried talking to other players, but for the most part everyone is silent. there is no interaction that would lead me to believe that the other players are in fact driven by actual humans beings.

does anyone know of a mmorpg where the players interact more, and theres less of the mind numbing repetition?

I'm not really a fan of MMORPGs myself. I've tried Second Life, and I can say that there are some folks out there who are willing to interact with others.

    Give it a try! ;)

I played wow for a little bit, it was fun until level 20 then it got boring unfortunatly. All my friends are obsessed with it, which sucks.

I bought a 14 day trial for World of Warcraft, and gave it up after about two hours. Same goes for Star Wars Galaxies (although my brother loves the game, owns his own town and such).

I can't see them as being anything more than glorified chatrooms with levels. I'd rather play by myself, honestly.

MMORPGS do get boring for most seasoned gamers. I could get into one but I simply don't have the time to get my money's worth out of the game.

Do people still play Star Wars Galaxies? I went on a year ago and it was deserted...

To me all MMORPGs are grindfests, i never understood why the hell people play them. To be honest though i've only played 2, city of heroes and some other one whose name i dont quite recall now. But man that sucked, and you have to pay a monthly fee too for some sucky grindfest. No way in hell.

Can't really say that many mmo(rpg)s (those I've played at least) really proves to have some non-superficial substance. I'm quite harsh towards the particular genre and after various tries on several different titles I ended up with Eve Online which,in my opinion, can prove to offer the difference I wanted. A mud can always prove interesting as well.

    Google the following:

    Pirates of the Burning Sea
    Eve Online
    Ryzom
Second Life (not technically a MMORPG)
    Guildwars

Guildwars is a lot of fun and the level limit is capped at 20.

Guildwars isnt really an MMORPG either. Its more like PSO; the missions are with a small team in an instance of some level.

The PvP elements are, I would argue, which is a big part of the game.

PSO was the best but that isn't really a MMORPG. Hmm, you could try Liniage II but most of the players are Korean or Japanese. It was pretty good though for a few weeks at least.

If you aren't into level grinding, stay away from Final Fantasy XI. It's impossible to do anything solo, and the game economy has seen better days. It's much easier to do things in World of Warcraft. But if you're playing for the sake of playing, and not hanging out with friends or otherwise joining a game community (guild, linkshell, whatever), you'll be disappointed. MMOs are built around a community structure, and generally suck as single-player adventures.

MMORPGs have no story, neither at least arcade action. For me, that's no real gaming.

Try Kalonline. Its like silkroad i think and the economy is abit messed right now but theres a brand new server and 2 old ones right now.

I would either join hanin or Bango (hanin being the first server where things are cheapest and bango being the newest).

Its free apart form the items u can buy from the cash side of the site. (but u can get them ingame from other players).

People who play MMORPG (or ANY rpg) must have a LOT of time in their hands! :p

Lineage 2 is terrible long term. If you die you randomly drop one of your items and anyone can pick it up. At least, that was how it was when I last played it (a year and a half ago).

It was also full of griefers.

Ah, I haven't played Lineage in years so I never knew that. Are there a lot of western players these days? When I used to play it was near impossible to find a group of English speakers.
