It will not work because it is not bidirectional, it only converts USB to SATA, not the opposite.

Yep. Photo bucket have really shafted the modding community with their rule change. Unfortunately the OP hasn't been on this site since October 2016 and only he/she can re upload the original pics :(

I did this mod but connected the ide cable to the gd rom board.

As for the sata adapter i believe you can use any adapter you want!

i used a cheap no name one that didnt work at first but you have to unhook pin 1 of the ide cable.seems this is a must do for most adapters yet no one tells you that in these tutorials.i just by chance ran into a post about that.so go cheap and if it doesn't work with pin 1 installed clip that wire and try again.also it has to somehow support master/slave.

We honestly have to get a complete and Thorough tutorial put together for this.i had to dig all around the web to find the needed info and answers to the many questions that i had that simply were not covered in any tutorial i ran into.

Some tutorials use the mobo, some use the gdrom board, some use 40 pin or 44 pin ide cable heck some didnt even use a ide cable, and NONE went into dreamshell setup after the hardware stuff is completed.

I am still refining my install.got a few surprises that i haven't seen others do for theirs.will update when i have it fully installed.
