    Hello everyone,
hope that I am posting in the ryt section and will get the right advise....
I have these PSX consoles 7000, 7500 & 9000 and all are NTSC JAP so i started with the 7000 (PU 20) using MM3 JAP Hex burned on 12C508A PIC (using K-150) and I ended up with a console running only JAP games and JAP backups (not accepting imported games) and sometimes the CD not spinning.

So seeking your advice on select the right chip (PIC and HEX) to mod above listed console since so I will be able to play my imported games and some backup.

    Thanks in advance

This is normal behaviour on a Japanese modchipped console. Either use a cheat cart or boot disc.

The protection is in the bios to only allow games with Japanese licence data to boot, so if you replace the bios (either with cheat cart or actually replacing the bios) it will work fine. The chip only unlocks the CD controller to say the disc is SCEI, it does not add the so many sectors that contain the JPN data.

You can also, since the drive is unlocked for all discs burn a copy of a boot disc, something that has the data, then swap (just open lid, you do not need to defeat the lid as it is chipped) then load the game.

If all you cared about was backups you could patch all your images with the Japanese licence data, but obviously you can't do that with your import originals.

An NTSC-U or PAL console has the bios chip. You need to desolder yours and the replacement with a hot air gun, then swap.
A cheat cart is probably easier to get. Action Replay, Explorer, etc.

He means replacing your bios chip with a newly burned one. This requires you to have the correct eeprom and a programmer for it.
These aren't exactly household items, so it's probably better to ask someone to burn a chip and send it to you ;)

See my sales thread. I'm pretty sure the 27c512 matches the pinout off the top of my head, but you need to solder wires as different package.

I sell those chips programmed with anything you want for £1 + shipping.
