Modded Gamecube (XenoGC) help - Laser troubles

Hey guys, so I put in a Xeno GC 2.0 last year. My laser worked for a while, and eventually burnt out (to my knowledge). It wouldn't read the mod disks even at extremely low resistance. So I bought a new laser, put it in, and still have trouble. It seems to be trying really hard to read it but it just can't. Help please. I don't want to go too low on ohms, but i have tried as low as ~100

 

Not exactly sure what kind of help you're looking for. Seems you already know how to adjust the laser, so there isn't much else you can do besides clean the laser, adjust the potentiometer, or replace it. From what I've read, replacement lasers generally aren't as good as the originals. If I remember right, on one system I went as low as 60 ohms to get it to read burned discs, and it still works. I didn't want to go that low, but I didn't really have any other choice for that one if I wanted to read burned discs.

 

I supposed you're right. Thanks man. I'll continue to adjust it tomorrow. It's supposed an "original replacement laser". Well, wish me luck.

 

Yeahhhh, lots of places will write that (original). I wouldn't take it at face-value. What's the source?

 

Got it off Ebay, so don't trust that it's an original but the box seems legit. I'm having trouble getting it to read. Very aggrivating. I've done so much to try to get this cube working.. It used to read backups without me even Pot adjusting....
