I may have spoke too soon:
    http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showth...ystem-Mega-Drive-Sega-Saturn-(Crystal-Switch)

In my case (I have an NTSC MD with 50/60Hz switch) I always set my XRGBMini Sync Mode to Off (not Auto) that is to say to create a correctly timed HDMI signal even if that means stutter .... that is because small deviations from HDMI timing make my TVs (plural) show nothing at all.
Sync Mode set to Auto in the XRGB tends to "duplicate" the same input frequency at the HDMI output (within limits) usually generating non std HDMI signals, some video equipment can latch on but many TVs do not as the HDMI std is pretty prescriptive.

So the extra stutter on the NTSC MD at 50Hz (due to the 50/60Hz switch) may not be noticeable to me anyway.

I believe the Saturn could be in the same boat .... if you leave the XRGBMini to SyncMode = Auto it may give you trouble as the HDMI frequency will be "wrong", if you set it to Off it will stutter usually in case of 50/60hz mismatch (when the game is 50 but the HDMI out is 60 or viceversa ..... ).
So told it may skip also on 60 to 60 or 50 to 50 if the originating 50/60 is not that close to what it expects (NeoGeo MVS for example generates its 60Hz at really 59.18 or alike which gives raise to trouble).

The XRGB will "sync" fine but your TV will have issues syncing when Sync Mode is set to Auto or you'll have stutter in Sync Mode set to Off unless you have a lucky TV that is fine with same deviation from the HDMI timing (thus allowing Auto).

Sorry for the confusion, it's been such a long time that I set the Sync Mode Off and accept that modern TV are "fixed" at either 50Hz or 60Hz (as per HDMI timing) that I accept the small stutter as part of the deal!!!

Forgot to mention that I also have a sync stripper (LM1881) on the sync signal (in the Scart adapter) and it is almost always on.
I remember I had to do it because some console/games combination needed weird values of XRGB Mini Sync level but with a sync stripper it all was much better (in specific an SMS with outrun needed something like 12.5 which you can't really set, also my AES with one particular game [can't remember, a shooter] was a lot of trouble).
To be fair most of those old consoles without a special Scart cable used composite as sync (some used a luma like signal which is a little better but still) hence a nice clean-up via a sync stripper is almost due, I know of the CSync/boosted-CSync cables but I preferred the LM1881 solution (as I did it once on the adapter Scart to JP21 and I'm done for all consoles).

The consoles that i'll be putting up over the next few days are the same as the that just sold with the exception of the 50/60Hz switch.
Instead of it being a physical switch these ones will have the "switchless" mod which lets you control your settings with your reset button.

Hi Kappa. Whereabouts are you in the UK? I travel between Lincoln, Birmingham and Peterborough if you're near any of those? I would like one of these awesome region free Saturn's please. Just out of interest, is there any difference between the one that's £10 more? Cheers.

Sorry i don't live near any of those, I'm located in the South-East (I'm still willing to ship if you want though). As for the console the only real difference is that the cheaper one has those scuffs on the front near the controller ports

Thanks for the reply. I'll wait til next batch for one shipped to me as money is really tight this month. Btw I have a couple of Saturns that are not modded would you be interested in a swap and part payment for one of yours?

Unfortunately these are going to be the last of the saturns I'll be doing for a while, looking to move on and work on other projects after these are sold. I'm more than happy to hold on to one if your dead set on buying it when the money comes though.

Hi Kappa, sorry didn't get back sooner. I would definitely like the £110 Saturn please. I can't pay the full amount right now but am happy to pay a deposit to secure it? Say £20 OK? I can pay the rest next month. If you're happy with that let me know...
