Recently I found with a friend a lot of broken NES (1 or 2 are working) and a bunch of famiclones, so we decided to pick up the working units and mod them as far as possible. We don't have lots of money, so I don't know what modifications can we do yet, but we have some ideas to do witk the broken units: -Fit a DVD player on a NES case -Fit a Genesis on another case -The same with a small computer About the working units, we'll need all information available about mods available to apply to a NES (visual or performance). Also I'll need to know how the Power and Reset buttons work, so I can use them on the DVD and the rest of the stuff. I'd be thankful for all ideas or manuals you can handle and I'll upload pics ASAP:icon_bigg .
From what I've ever seen, sticking things in a NES case turns out looking horrible, like building a statue out of macaroni: sure, you can understand what it is and why you did it, but it's still not good. Maybe the 72 pin connectors just need fixing? Thats the most common NES issue.
Got a US front loader myself and have done two modifications: 1. Installed a CopyNES board. Lately I have used it with the PowerPak Lite RAM cart. Among other things I can upload and run .NES files for the mappers which the PowerPak Lite supports. 2. Installed a RGB PPU and amplifier. RP2C03B PPU. The broken units haven't got a fix, they are all burned because of a really old and bad electricity installation (there weren't any ground connections in all the house) BTW, the only cause why I'll do this is because I have lots of free time and those consoles were going to the trash.
Funnily enough whilst looking for some other NES related image this afternoon I noticed a NES with a CD tray mod. I think I typed "NES rare" into the Google engine and it was in the images section (probably several pages in). I thought it looked ok actually, although not really sure why you'd want to do it.
That Wii/NES is a great look... almost as good asthe black / chrome cases they do. I think that a Shuttle PC built into a NES case would be class. And the Keyboard and mouse would need to be Wireless to makeit work properly
I would really like to fit a Wii into a NES case, but here all console prices are insane, the cheapest Wii you can get here is about US$ 600-700! It's just too much for me...
I started working with the Chris Covell's tutorial to put stereo sound to a NES. Things are working well ATM, as soon as I finish I'll upload some photos :-D UPDATE: Yesterday a friend sent me a flyer for the project, really funny BTW.
