Model 1 Sega CD LED problem

    Yes we are getting voltage at R7 while powered on. The transistor tests didn’t result in what you described but both TR1 and TR2 behave the same

    Did u test the transistor while unpowered?

    Either way it sounds like the transistor is working as is R5, R7, pin 65 and LED2.

    Is there any noticeable damage to traces on the board. Have u checked continuity between LED2 and the collector pin, and between emitter pin and ground? Some pictures of your board may be useful.

    The board doesn’t have any puddles of electrolytic fluid anywhere and the only damage is on TR1 when we pulled a solder pad and had to attach 1 leg of the transistor to another part of the trace with a tiny wire LOL

    No the board was not powered when we tested the transistors

    I was just having the same problem on my model 1 that I just fixed, pin 1 on TR2 was not getting to R3. Just added a little wire fully fixed it.
    Electrolytic fluid from the old caps most likely damaged the board a little on the line going from TR2 pin 1 to R3.

    Hopefully, this can help anyone new looking to fix this problem, this page help me out.
