Hey Everyone, When looking at arcade cabinets I noted that some mention they are CRT and some mention that they are HD LCD screens. For the later type, what kind of video input do the screens accept? Is it just standard HDMI, or is there some special connector designed for arcade systems? Also, I assume for modern LCD setups, you can't really play older games on them without some kind of 3rd party device since aspect ratios and upscaling will be messed up and stuff?
I have seen systems like Namco System 357 which runs Tekken 6 that uses hdmi since the system is Playstation 3 Based. Sega's Lindbergh system that runs Virtua Fighter 5 in most cases used VGA to it's LCD screen (some cabinets may differ, not sure) Basically it depends on, the system, game and cabinet. As for older games, you would need an upscaler board for any game that does not display in Arcade High Resolution (640X480), plus if it does display in that resolution but does not have a vga port, you would need the same kind of board to convert the connection.
