I found this link over at NTSC-UK. It links to a page that features 8bit and 16bit renditions of modern hits such as Bayonetta which looks fantastic as well as Bio Shock, Medal of Honor, Bio Hazard 5, Sin and Punishment and so on. All art was created by the Swedish pixel artist Junkboy for the Swedish game mag, Level. Check it out. The memories of games gone by will start flooding back. http://www.geekosystem.com/8-bit-game-demakes/ Yakumo
Someone should tell the artist that Super mario Kart was on a 16bit system. And Metal Gear Solid 4 looks like er Metal Gear on the MSX, red dead redemption looks like Gunsmoke with worse graphics. Anyway if you are going to link then link to the artists art site too http://jnkboy.deviantart.com/ Ironic that Yakumo was complaining last week about Atari 2600 games looking the same, where as a number of these look similar. Also would some of these games work? Sin and Punishment would work if it was on the Sega Saturn perhaps but would be slow down city on a Megadrive or SFC. However some of the other games would just feel like graphical rip offs of other games, Soul Calibur would feel too much like Samurai Spirits for example.
ermmm. Why are soo many oriented like they're cell phone games*. Also some of them really don't stick to proper limits of a 8bit/16bit game (color palettes, tile limits, etc). *yes one could also say arcade but they don't come across as one.
You two are pretty grumpy, I thought most of these were pretty good. Of course there are related games on older systems but that's not the point. I particularly like his faux-C64. Most of the 3:4 games are definitely supposed to be vertical scrolling arcade.
