Article (orig from a spanish mag) http://cube.ign.com/articles/606/606585p1.html and commentary http://www.pressthebuttons.com/2005/04/new_emzeldaem_d.html Basically: * The new Zelda offers approximately seventy hours of gameplay. * Link's world is two to three times as large as Ocarina of Time's world. * The game's controls are similar to the controls from Ocarina of Time. * The game opens in Taoru Village, a tutorial level designed to teach players how to control Link. * The tutorial includes tasks such as carrying pots for a pregnant woman and herding up animals while on horseback. * Link begins the game at the age of sixteen. He starts in farmer garb and has the Triforce symbol on his hand.
Best news bit I've heard in ages. 70 hours.... impressive. What was Ocarina of Time I wonder? No doubt you could play for ages with all the mini quests.
To me its the opposite - I get bored in games over ~25hrs - Unless i am exceptionally into them - Back in the day i did 100hrs on pokemon Blue (yer yer, i was young and had to be cool). So for me this is going to have to be exceptionally good for me to play all the way through
Just because I am a nice guy, here is a link to the images in the magazine: http://img249.echo.cx/img249/9282/hobbyconsolasscan132aa.jpg
This might be the first Zelda title I actually enjoy. I just wish there was a little blood action in there :die
forget everything else...theres a pregnant woman in the game! how often does that happen? its a videogame milestone. ...now only if it was links child.
it's me or it looks less darker than what the first footage showed? it looks a bit more ''cartoon'', and a bit more like a nintendo game right now... on certain screens anyway. Anyway, maybe i'm just crazy.. Glad to finnally get pointless but so funny to hear infos.
Now that looks very nice But just like Nintendo has always been, it's too late ! I just wish they had bigger dev teams so that they could churn out good games on a regular basis instead of one every blue moon. Yakumo
yeah, i agree with you yak. and this game should have been released at the beginning\middle of the console era, not at the end of this generation's life! i must add that the graphics aren't that great, hope nintendo dev team will work on it a bit (just to make the cube shine! ) and am i the only one to see a touch of Fable graphic-style in the ''peasant link'' pictures? sometimes i'm just crazy, you know..
So does everyone like the Nuevo look? I personallly like cel-shaded games, but that's me. Steadster: I'm the first to bitch about games being too long. I hate RPGs over 30-35 hours, but I'm assuming that "70 hours of gameplay" means if you clear the whole thing. You could probably go through it bare minimum in half of that.
Personally I'm waiting for them to announce a release date. This'll probably be the last Gamecube game I purchase on release day so I wanna get it ASAP (and if they delay it in europe like they seem to do with alot of titles I may have to try ordering it through GSL Heavy Industries)
Always willing to serve. :-D I remain skeptical - it certainly looks good, but it is still a Nintendo Zelda game, and as I've stated before I've not been impressed with the last three installments. Along with GaijinPunch, I'm a fan of cell-shaded games as well, but the characters in Wind Waker were hard to take seriously - everyone looked so feline. There's ways of doing expressive and engaging cel-shading, but that wasn't one of them. I just wish Nintendo would try to return to the traditional Zelda feel - it is possible to keep a series current without throwing away everything that made the originals fun, but they haven't figured out how to do this yet.
I'll Still buy it, Looks like it will be a darn good game none the less. I think the only reason some people dont like OOT/MM/WW as much as the 2d versions is simply that their different and not exactly the same - far more action in 3d versions than 2ds, where it was more strategy based. I really don't care what link looks like, so long as he fits in with the game and the game is good
I personally love the Zelda 64 feel to this new game. The Background field when he is riding Epona makes it look like this is going to be a HUGE game. It looks like the landmass will be similar to the amount of Sea you had to venture across in Wind Waker. The Cel-shaded look definitely made Wind Waker have a somewhat retro "feel" to it, but I really wanted a Zelda 64 type of game. I was thinking that Nintendo could split the games in two; One in the ancient land of Hyrule (or other lands) with Zelda 64 graphics, and another in the Ocean filled land with Wind Waker type Graphics. Some may be skeptical about bringing back the N64-ish type, but this will probably be one of my favorites. EDIT: BTW, I like games that last a while. Well, most of the time, anyway...
depends of the game for me, sometimes i just don't want it to end, while other time, while i still enjoy the game, i would love it to finish more quickly.
Anyone know how many discs this will be on? I very much doubt It'll fit on one - Even with super mega nintendo compression from the N64 days
Tales of Symphonia was on 2 discs, and its pretty huge. They can fit Zelda 64 on 1 of these discs, so Im going to say 2. MAYBE 3. If it was 3, it would be the biggest game in the GC's history, I think.
