yeah they have crap like that on TV. Japanese TV is last ! You can predict what someone is going to say or do it's that samely. Only once in a blue moon do I see something interesting or worth watching.

For some reason, I find it strangely compelling, but then again, I don't have to put up with it all the time, so I could see how easily people get sick of it.

Better than nhk. God I hate that bloody channel really do. Give me some absolute shite, that admits that it is shite any day.

For the record I had cable in Japan and there was loads of quality stuff on that, although I did find myself looking for the crap when I wanted some cheap fun, I find it refreshing. Though some shows are exactly the same every week, you can also pretty much follow your fav talent around the shows everyday. Oh and japanese dramas, best in the world. although one of my gf made me sit through hour after hour of the damn things while she fawned over the actors - not my idea of fun.

btw, I also love the Yan-san. I want that ost!

In typical Japanese tradition they have used Bob Sapp so much that they no longer care about him so now follow Bobby who is another big black guy who is actually more likeable than Bob Sapp but we all know this time next year they won' tgive a crap about him. That's the life of Japanese TV. Get it ! Use it until everyone is sick of it ! then dump it ! It really is depressing seeing the same people you can't stand on every bloody show you tune in to. It never used to bother me but these days I can't stand TV over here. I only use my TV for watching the movies, DVDs and gaming.

I disconnected my antenna about a year ago because of such vapid programming. Never regretted it once. I have enough video games, I watch movies on VHS or DVD, and I can say "NO" to the NHK man with confidence whenever he comes by.

You don't have to pay your NHK fees if you specifically don't use your TV for receiving broadcasts, so all is good.

Is that the "gay" guy they made a "pop up pirate" version of?

I dunno, its something that Yakumo posted in his thread. When you said compelling, I just had to post it.

Bad Japanese stereotypes of gay men are probably the funniest things on the internet, anyway.

So, aside from soap opera style dramas, variety shows and the news, is there anything else on TV?

Do they have western style evening sitcoms and dramas? Or are they just so bad that they're not even worth mentioning?
