Mortal Kombat II - ever released in Japan.

I'm getting a little annoyed with arcade operators here. lol. you see they tend to not know and not care how and what they write when advertising the PCBs they have for sale. it's just a matter of if it sounds similar. so many variations in spelling and description of the same game it's not funny. it's a case of deciphering each and every name to see what is on offer.

so this is a roundabout way to come to the point of this thread. someone locally was advertising as having an original Mortal Kombat II pcb - the japanese version. I've asked him a couple of questions about it, and he's yet to reply. but from what I know there's no such thing. I mean, I've checked rather thoroughly online, in both english and japanese languages - and nothing turned up. which leads me to believe that the seller is talking out of his arse - highlyprobable - it's not like they care either way (and why should they?)
anyone know conclusively if the game made it to the arcades in Japan? I know the japanese PSX version is worth a bit, and it was also released over there for 32x - but for the arcade? I don't quite think so.

I don't think if it was available in japan that it would have its own localized version. I figure it would be identical to ours. I know Mortal Kombat was available in japan, but I always had a feeling Mortal Kombat was not anywhere near as well recieved as it was in the US.

You've reminded me how badly I need a TV that can display my Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 PCBs. One thing that bothers me is JROK tells me MK is 56hz, where as MAME says 53hz. I've seen many LCD tvs and most will sync down to 56hz but not 53hz. It would certainly be annoying to get a new tv and then still not have a working display for MK.
