most compatible gdrom pc drive?

    what is the most comptible pc ide drive taht can be used to rip gdrom pressed disks

    From my understanding there is NO pc drive that can rip GDR's , correct me if im wrong but i don't think i am.

    There's a hack where you use an specially crafted CDR disc to convince the drive to move the laser into the high density area of a GD... then you dump the extracted data RAW.

    It's a ghastly hack but it works. I think people were using TEAC drives for that, no ? :shrug:

    Edit: by ghastly hack I mean you swap the "specially crafted CDR" with the GD disc after you set up the dumping process... All without opening the drive tray, of course >_<

    ill find the drive.

    btw i never asked about the software side as this is a differnt idea then ripping a gdrom
