i have heard people say that they didn't even get as far as making the game playable , which is absolutely false as there was a playable demo at space world 1999. even if in the future if we get ahold of this game it would be fun to play even as a demo ,hackers could work with the demo and add levels like they do with super mario 64 . i mean can you imagine playing earthbound 64 aka mother 3 on the n64 , it would be freaking great. also some say that the build of mother 3 was on the 64dd , wich i wish it was but that is not true as the spaceworld demo was on one of those gint towering development n64 cartridges.
As someone who's writing a documentary on this very subject, I too would like to know if any such playable prototype could exist outside Nintendo's hands. Last December, I interviewed the only non-Japanese debugger for MOTHER 3 (The GBA version; he was not involved in the Fan Translation), Brenden Setcher, for information on his involvement on the game, for my docu that I plan on finishing soon in the neat future. As the Q&A progressed, I ask about his familiarity with MOTHER 3 on N64. He had some interesting things to say about it, to say the least. Yes, chances are slim to none that we'll see any official elaboration from Nintendo about MOTHER 3 on N64. But I still want to know if any prototypes of the N64 version are out in the wild, and if so, I would love to seek it out! =) The entire interview can be found here if you are interested on the full thing: http://earthboundcentral.com/2010/12/interview-with-a-mother-3-debugger/

oh btw does anyone know about mother 3.5 , the add-on to mother 3 that was supossed to be on the 64dd?
i just realized that an appropriate base rom for hacking and editing to create mother 3 for the n64 would be quest 64. it has the appropriate engine. i just wish i knew how to hack n64 roms and i would do it.
