Check out starmen.net's homepage  After so long it's actually going to come out(now we've got to wait for nintendo to release it in the u.s. or for someone to translate a dump)
Nintendo now has a homepage for the game http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n08/mother3/ Not much there at the moment, though the logo is just like the one shown on the n64 game. Maybe it has more in common with mother64 then the rumors give it credit for.
But if you look at the top right corner of nintendos teaser page it lists it for gba, so that chucks out the N64 version as that was 3D & the gba is no way capable of matching the N64. Now if they were releasing it on DS that would be another story.
Ooooh, GBA. Disregard my dumbass post in the "is the gamecube dying" thread then... I figured it'd be either a GCN or a Revolution title. I'm actually a bit disappointed that it's going to be a GBA game, I'd much rather have Mother 3 as a Revo launch title.
im a bit dissapointed as well that will never play the 3d one that was going to come out soon twords the end of the 64s death, but hell i dont mind the 2d rpg, and hell maybe its possible theyll release all 3 on one ds card for us, sorta how theyre trying to do with shenmue 3 based on info from kuirzo(is that what that site was called).
Not long after the N64/64DD version of Mother 3 was scrapped, Itoi announced that Mother 3 would be for the GBA, and then promptly disappeared. Apparently they're going to be keeping with the general storyline of the canned version, but it'll obviously be 2D with some apparent changes to the game mechanics. And just when smartass IGN was starting to say that the GBA had little left for it, too! Now everyone pray/chant/beat on hollow logs/do what you need to do to ensure the powers that be give us an English translation.
Heck, I'm thinking of getting it on preorder from some place like Play-Asia when it comes out in Japan even if there ARE mutterings of a US release. Granted, Earthbound didn't do screamingly well at retail when it first came out, but if Nintendo did a little market research, they'd see that it's a cult favorite here. Who knows, maybe there's a possibility of some sort of 'Earthbound Trilogy' release or something.
miyamotos aware of the cult following, iwata is aware, its just nintnedo is the type that doesnt like selling somehting that faild at first, but then again its got more of a following thantks to the internet and smash brothers. However its the effort it take to translate ti and such, but i got a suspicous feeling if theyre like capcom they'll release it as a collection here and maybe put it on ds with some extras like the map on the bottom, be the only logical thing to do.
Nintendo doing a market research? That's unheard of since the SNES days. All I know is that I'm trying to convince my friend to sell me his mint copy of Earthbound, in which he still has the box, manual, and carton.
Don't get your hopes up on release, this game is starting to look like Duke Nukem Forever which all the delays and rebuilds...
Well, the fact that Nintendo's got a preliminary website out with pricing info and a general release season speaks volumes. They're not really ones to delay endlessly ala DNF or Starcraft Ghost. Also, this is the first time an actual release timeframe has been announced for Mother 3 - previously the only release info they gave was that it would be out When It's Doneâ„¢.
This was posted on starmen.net a few days ago... "This quote from Itoi's post on Nov. 16 (as seen in my earlier post): Quote: そういえば、『MOTHER3』作画のチームの一員の、 門井元さんが大きな賞をもらったみたい! 明日発売のマンガ週刊誌『モーニング』NO.51に、 なんと84ページも掲載されています。 Speaking of which, it looks like Gen Kadoi, a member of the Mother 3 art team, has won a big award! No less than 84 pages of his work are going to be published in Issue #51 of the weekly comic magazine "Morning", which goes on sale tomorrow. Seems cool, right? It turns out that Gen Kadoi is pretty well-known and respected, but you'll never guess where he works... Brownie Brown. From here (as of Nov. 15 2005) Quote: 亀岡慎太先生、猫山田ひろし先生に引き続き、 ブラブラから新たな漫画戦士が誕生するぜぇい! 今週11月17日(木)発売の『週刊モーニング』に 門井元先生が描いた漫画が掲載されるのだぁ!! A new comic art warrior has been born from Brownie Brown to follow in the footsteps of the great Shinta Kameoka and Hiroshi Nekoyamada!!!!! Comics drawn by master artist Gen Kadoi will be published in this week's edition (Thursday, Nov. 17) of "Weekly Morning"!! The Mother 3-Brownie Brown link is pretty much all but official now" I've never play a Brownie Brown game, but it seems like they usually make quirky japanese rpg's. BB and Mother should(please god) make a good match. edit: Has anyone seen any of Kadoi's art? Would be nice to know what kind of style he has.
Heres some more info(stolen straight from starmen.net) that near guarantees Mother 3 will actually be released this time... Thanks to gamefront and mother-jp.net we have learned some great news regarding Mother 3! Shigesato Itoi, the creator of the Mother series(in case you didn't know), recently posted on his blog that Mother 3 is definitely coming out in spring 2006 in Japan. There is no specific release date set, but with the current progress it is safe to assume that its release will not be hindered by any major delays or cancellations. Itoi has been working hard for a while now going on work retreats to work on the game with Brownie Brown and it seems to be paying off. The hardest parts are almost over with. We also learned an amazing new detail: Both Mother and Mother 2(or Earthbound 0 and Earthbound, as they're known stateside) had engrossing stories filled with occasional sidequests and plenty of original dialogue. If you thought it took a while to complete the quests and suck in all that New Age Retro goodness in those games, wait until Mother 3 comes around. Itoi stated that the game features about twice the amount of scenario work as the first two titles. Get ready for a longer, more in-depth Mother adventure! :rambo:
Now, everybody pray to whatever deity or ancestors you honor that there will be an official English release of the game. And while you're at it, ask for the Mother 1+2 set as well.
