Does anyone know if you can drop in a VA0 or VA2.1 motherboard to replace a damaged VA1?

The VA0 should be compatible with the case, the gdrom board and the PSU of the VA1.

Some work might have to be done with the controller board as the VA0 one uses a thermistor instead of the fan speed sensor of the VA1.

The VA2.1 one should be compatible with the case, PSU and controller board of the VA1, but not with the gdrom, as the VA2 has the gdrom PCB integrated into the motherboard (just the ribbon that connects to the laser assembly sticks out of the mobo, not the 50pin molex connector).

It's worth noting that only the mobo is region specific, a 240v PSU will work on an American console and vice versa.

Hope it helps you to Frankenstein a living DC out of dead parts.

i think that the VA0 and VA1 have different volts on gd-rom are you sure that a v1 gd-rom will work on VA0 and vice versa?
