Hi guys I moved to Osaka now I need to buy everything again
I need to get some long vertical blinds for a couple long windows I have , does anyone know a cheaper source than Muji?
Beds and sofas are so expensive..I think Nitori might be my best choice, even Ikea/Muji are pricey.
I don’t have any lightning neither, has anyone had experience with these LED lights like the Panasonic HH-LC600A ? Which has a few different settings on it?
    http://review.kakaku.com/review/K0000223398/ReviewCD=413813/
Going for about 5.5 man in Labi
TV ill probably get a Sony Bravia monolith design tv with skype etc built in or a Toshiba Regza – does anyone have any of these? Prices are about 16man for 55 inch

Has anyone used the Japanese credit RIBO system? In the west when using a credit card we can pay back as little or as much as we want but in Japan it doesn’t see we have that…

    Home Entertainment Setup
Does anyone have experience with home entertainment setups where you can have music playing from the same source in different rooms without having to blast music out really loud in one room?
I know you can buy a system in the west called the Sonos which is a wireless sound system that allows you to play the same music or different music in each room
    http://www.amazon.com/Sonos-Play-All---One-Integrated/dp/B003CP0FUU/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1314495553&sr=1-4
I was wondering if there were anything like that in Japan too or if there was an alternative setup that you guys use, maybe to access some files from a NAS box.
There is another system I have seen using an iphone to dock and some wireless speakers but the speakers don’t look like they are good quality…
    http://www.amazon.com/Jensen-JISS-585-Universal-Wireless-Speakers/dp/B001VICKX0/ref=pd_cp_e_pw_2
I am also curious as to Windows 7 and its streaming capabilities, or other methods where you can stream digital content to two TVs at the same time (let’s say they both have an ethernet connection) so you can stream something such as video content to two tvs at once.
Really id want to pull data from just 1 source such as a NAS box, as I don’t want to keep creating different music sources. E.g. my iphone has an itunes source on my hard drive, the sonos wireless speaker device has its own source etc etc.. that way I am not creating unique folders/doubling my music archive.

Ikea is much less expensive than Muji. When I relocated to Saitama I bought most of my stuff at Ikea or Nittori.

yes amazon and rakuten are quite cheap that is true, though without a credit card im limited to amazon store items. Also some things I am just scared about buying online, sofa/bed maybe desks I definitely need to see first

Do we have any Osaka members?
Sorry I missed you all in Tokyo, it was pretty manic few months !

Amazon is what you need mate. Free shipping too on most stuff. If you really need to go to a store I'd buy from Nitori. I bought a few of my things from there such as curtains, TV unit and very sexy two way Japanese blinds.

If you are going to live in Japan, do you think that maybe knowing some Japanese might be in order?

I had a look on the Japanese Nitori digital catalogue but they don't seem to have the blinds that i bought. I did buy them over two years ago. What I'll do is take a picture of them when I get home to give you an idea of what they are like.

Basically you can have them up to cut out all sunlight, half blind (or any level you'd like) and half net like blind to let in the sun. All net like blind or just role up the blind altogether.

    Yes it is in order

Its not as easy as ABC though..
And trust me my frustration at not knowing is high

    Here come the excuses >>
I have health problems meaning I cannot have any sort of stimulant such as caffeine, too much sugar etc...therefore I am quite often tired and hence my memory retention is poor...seriously poor.
    Been working a lot recently.
I admit to not trying as hard as I should because I am admittedly too embarrassed at getting it wrong, also in the workplace you need efficiency.
I am building up my ability though Jam, unlike you I havent got a Japanese GF (I might update the dating stuff though in the sticky with my tokyo experience)

I can get by but not at the level where I can easily search for specific things on にほんご websites.

Regardless of language skill, knowing where to buy good stuff is cool :)

Thanks so much Yakumo, looking forward to it !
I will probably buy a nitori bed or ikea bed and some things from labi this weekend but will wait on your sexy blinds

Here's a few pictures of the cool blinds plus the name of them translated. It turns out that these were not from Nitori. Sorry.

All my curtains are from Nitori though for a very good price. They're all double layered too. In the dinning room we have these (my wife selected these)

In my room I have a very nice heavy pair of tasteful brown with highlights curtains. They look all tatty in the photo but that's because the wind was blowing they about as the picture was taken.

I seriously do recommend Nitori for curtains.

    WOW

    Thank you so much!!
You have gone beyond my expectations.

Tomorrow I am definitely off to Nitori :)
My bedroom window is the size of that window you have there and my living room window is +1 door size again (might be similar in size to your living room window that is on the right).

I am thinking of black curtains to complement white blinds and to go with hopefully the black malma Ikea bed!

And I just got a credit card from Rakuten ^^
30man limit but i am not sure it has Revo

    I went to nitori today.
Turns out there is one just 12 minutes from where I live.
    Lots of choice indeed.
Nitori do specialise in tasteful brown too
Unfortunately my land lord won't let me drill holes so I have to try and replace the curtain rail (with it's missing pegs) with another hopefully not screwing up the hole.
Having too much choice is annoying sometimes , makes it harder to decide!Do we have any kansai members? My bday is near the end of the year and I should have kitted out the place by then

Well, think yourself lucky you aren't going to Nitori with a woman. I hate going there with my wife. we're in the shop for like 3 hours! thankfully the store we go to has a coffee area full of guys waiting for their wives

By the way, if you tell Nitori staf the size of your windows they will make custom length curtains for you.
