So after a year down here in Cedar City, I'm moving back to Salt Lake City, and sadly back into my parents house. I'd much rather have my own place, but I'm moving back in to help take care of my mother, she's been sick the past little while and at the rate she is going down hill I'll probably loose her in the next 6-8 months. :crying:

Anywho, I'm 2 Dreamcasts, GameCube, Wii, PS3, NES, and a Genesis. Stupidly, I don't have the original boxes for any of them as those would probably be the recommended moving package.

That said I want to safely transport my various consoles back home without out damage, is there a better way to back them then copious amounts of bubble wrap and a secure box?

The only thing I know for sure is that the Xbox 360 is getting to ride in a coffin, that way if it dies during the move a shipping label can promptly be put on it and sent to MS for revival.

Last time I moved I pretty much just did the box + bubble wrap thing. Oh, and if you're hiring movers, don't let them move that box, carry it yourself.

Bubble wrap and boxes should do it :p

But as graphique says you should carry the box, I have moved a lot (3 times in the last 5 years), always hiring movers, but I personally took all my electronics stuff such as my game consoles and my PCs because they usually aren't careful with that stuff.

Anyway, if you want to be extra careful you could buy one of these:

I have one of those MadCatz cases, not the Gears one though, and they're great, and you can fit in the PS3 or Wii perfectly fine. There are also other models which vary in size which could come in handy for the other consoles.

Instead of bubble wrap i simply wrapped my unboxed consoles in t-shirts, sweaters, sheets etc.

Saved space and money for tons of bubble wrap and did the trick well enough.

When I moved out from my parents house around 2 years ago all my consoles were stacked between duvet sets and clothes in the suitcases.

You'd need alot of bubble wrap and it can be more expense that its worth unless you send enough stuff to warrant re-using it all.

I would also move all these yourself. Our movers smashed my priceless ikea picture frame!!!

Twice in bubble wrap, one inch of peanuts in the box, put in, surround, cover in peanuts. Tape shut.

Not quite as exact as mentioned here, but that's essentially what I do when I need to transport my consoles that don't have their original packaging anymore. Never had any issue.
