So in a few days time I say goodbye to Plymouth to start all over again in Cardiff, but don't know much about the area. Is there anywhere you recomending doing / seeing / playing in the surrounding area? Any places / things to avoid?
St Mary's St / High St is awesome, right by the castle - where most people go out, cinemas are based around there. Queens St is the main shopping st, so you'll be best to check that out. Cathays & Roath are student areas, very nice there though, nice parks. Avoid pretty much Canton onwards (i.e. Ely) - scary place, not worth the hassle! Also the riverfront on Sundays - good market (near the Cineworld). Don't go down there at night, bit of a red light district + ex-housemate's friend was murdered down there. Penarth is one of my favourite places, just go past Brains brewery towards Tescos and you're there... nice little villagey area (v.upmarket) - awesome beach & pier which is usually desolate. Is that enough for now?
