As much information as you need about the hardware can be found here: http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=540 Although a variation of Mr. Driller is now available on Xbox Live, it is a prime example of where an arcade title sometimes feels, plays and reacts best when in hardware form. The XBL version ended up being given the accolade of the Worst title of 2008. A crying shame as the System 10 PCB is fantastic! There appears to be a Mr. Driller version for almost every console since the PS1, including the DS. And some video footage, although none really of the game being played as I couldn't find anyone to test whilst I filmed and the tripod is buried in the attic at the moment.
I bought this PCB a few weeks ago and it is indeed a great game (I'm a huge fan of the series, as some may know ). I've not played the XBL version, but it's a shame to hear it's no good.
An update was released that was meant to sort out a lot of the issues people complained about, but frankly it didn't make much of a difference. Enjoy that board!
I didn't even know about Mr Driller until my girlfriend told me about it. I brought the Playstation version a while back to put on my PSP and now I'm hooked. It's a great game.
Just bought Mr. Driller G, which as far as I am aware is the last in the arcade series and released in 2001. Will post images when it arrives.
I bought the PS1 port of the original Driller game a couple of weeks ago. My memory was right... this game still makes me go crazy. I so fucking hate it when blocks keep crumbling on my head - WAAAH. I am really no impatient person when it comes to arcade games, but this one is too much for me. The other driller game that I have is the GBA port of "2" which is rather enjoyable. Yet I can't play it for longer than 10 minutes, it just destroys me from the inside. Rather than that I'm also planning to buy 2 or G(reat) as arcade originals. Am I crazy? It's the graphics, they must be hypnotic... why else would try to get as many versions of a game that can't stand me -__-
Totally agree, I am precisely the same. I suck at this game so much, but it is SO addictive and I am determined to get somewhere with it. I keep undermining and thinking I had supporting blocks of the same color between myself and the avalanche only to discover I am squished! Go to You Tube, look up Mr. Driller and check out the fan videos! They will make you weep, but you might get some tips! :thumbsup:
