MS remotely killing 360 kits? (RUMOR) http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=393842 :crying:if true (no devkit should be nuked, but I guess people where asking for it).
haha just saw this thread on GAF and came here to post this but I guess you beat me to it  hope nobody here is affected!
I could understand system bans from Pnet, but trashing the system making it unusable? That's just not right.
Blowing all units registered as recycled, turned in or stolen. Any licensed people get new units and an apology. Other people get a paperweight.
LAWL, The dude is just a dirty pirate (he has sonic 4 in his gamertag). It seems it's maybe not a devkit but a testkit or a JTAG modified unit. I'm not quite sure (I don't know too much about 360 kits other then seeing one a handful of times, now sony stuff i know ).
Yep, since he played leaked games (which originated from pnet) on his regular Xbox Live account, he must have a modded 360 - otherwise he would not be able to run unsigned code. And that's probably the reason his console got banned.
Is that really considered piracy? If he has a modded console, and just downloaded it from partnernet? He didn't upload the actual game as far as I know. He just seems kinda stupid for being so obvious about it. I wonder why MS dosen't require people to log into PNET and keep track of who accesses what.
Yes. Not to mention they don't have the rights to be on partnernet in the first place. I'm not sure why MS is so stupid about not IP Locking accounts like sony does.
I don't really see the problem. If you're going to go online with your apparently stolen hardware, you're an idiot. Maybe they're doing you a favor if they nuke your system rather than tracking you down to press charges or something. If you had a dev kit I don't really care but it just seems to me that it would be common sense not to connect to Microsoft's network. It's just foolish to assume they are blind and won't notice.
Wouldn't this be overly sketchy? "This serial number is marked as being destroyed." "Oh, well, uhh... it isn't." Exactly. And yet people were doing silly things, like stealing, with their kits? I don't want to speak for the entire community, but for those who were using them like children instead of honoring the opprotunity and privilege of not only owning, but utilizing such pieces of hardware, there's a nice karma rainstorm outside in their honor.
