Or at least it looks like, since at the GDC MS let the public know that backwards compatibility is no longer a priority, nor even and objective: At some point we're going to focus less on it. When you get to the end of this year there will be a reduced focus on backwards compatibility. There are so many 360 games out there. I don't know if it's important anymore. We better get the last remaining Xboxs guys The Source
Not for me: I didnt get an Xbox during the last gen and was looking foward to play those must games in the X360.
Damn, looks like I'll need to grab a pre-owned one..you know what'd be great..if they offered a list/vote of all the Xbox titles and which ones we'd like to see BC for.
Do you have to make topics with such ridiculous titles? I can feel my brain seeping out through my ears when I read that shit.
There aren't all that many great Xbox titles that aren't BC with 360. The ones I know are anything Capcom, doesn't run on the 360. The main reason I know that is because I wanted to see if Marvel Vs Capcom 2 worked. It didn't.
My xbox is sitting in the corner of my room, in its box..Sadly i dont want to spend the time to mess with the tv to hook the old black beauty up, even though 80percent of my xbox1 games arent compatible with the 360 However, I havent found myself with great urges to play them, so I'm not to concerned Sad to see that MS is dropping it though Ryan
I take it your didn't mod it then? ='( You could get so much more use out of it if you modded it. Nothing like running NES emulators in 720p on your LCD screen. ;p
A reduced focus by the end of the year? OH MY GOD THAT MEANS BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY IS 100% DEAD TODAY!! Would love to see a vote list for compatibility, tough. Anyway, didn't psychonauts got in the compatibility list after numerous mails from fans to MS?
I really hate the attitude MS have where anything older than whats being released today on the 360 is now irrelevent as there are a higher number of titles available, It totally sums up their inability to get developers onboard due to the shambolik and shallow way they view content. How can they say they are going to focus less on the backwards compatibility? From the outset its been a half assed effort and for them to do any less would mean they stop alltogether. If you want to play Halo or one of the thousand Tom Clancy's Gun boreathons then thats no problem but one of the few decent individual titles? No.
backwards compat was a touted feature that was used to sell systems. Shame on them for lying to us, I know I won't forgive them.
Sony's new batch of PS3s will eventually hit this status, too. As such, its B/C won't be as complete as the units now available in US and JP. Get em while they re hot folks. I wish i could too!
Yeah but sony plans to keep making the PS2 for at least the next three years, while the Xbox is already hard to find in most stores. That and 600 bucks gets you a lot of PS2s;-)
Johny, I understand where you're comming from with this point, but for a person like myself, who did not own an XBOX console the first time around (yet now does but is unwilling to open it ) , B/C on the 360 has been a miracle! I m having the chance to experience all those great titles that are currently enabled, buying them at ridiculusly low prices! - patience ways off when you don't want to waste money There's nothing wrong with not being the first to play a certain title, for example i still don't own Gears of War, but will eventually, when the price is right.
yeah, I feel you man. I was excited to play some saturn games I never got to when they were out. However, xboxes are way cheap now. MS is having to devote time and money to the BC, and aren't even really getting much out of it. If you're playing old games, you're probably not buying new ones.
