Does anyone know where to go to get MSX computer repair in the Tokyo area? I need the belt replaced on my A1WX, and the cover's too much of a b***h to get off myself... don;t want to her the snap of doom.

I have the Panasonic FW-U1P501J replacement belt... just need someone to clean the old one out and put this one in.

Without it, I can't play Puyo-Puyo. And that's a very sad thing indeed.

That would be when I try to pull the top off and I hear a loud 'snap' indicating I broke something.

Even after removing the screws on the bottom of the casing, I find the top difficult to take off, and I don't want to force it.

I haven't had my hands on a A1WX, but I've completely dis- and reassembled a Sony MSX2+ (F1XV iirc). The top has all those tiny LEDs for status lights so there are some cables that connect the small PCB that's glued to the inside of the top of the case.

With the Sony MSX2+, I needed to lift the top only a little and start unplugging the cables of one or two cables on a PCB.

I don't think it's underneath stickers covering a screw if you can't lift off the top. Plus it would be the first MSX I know to use these annoying things.

The problem isn't with the bottom molding. It seems to pull away from the keyboard and everything OK. The upper part where the cartridge slots and FDD is located is what I can't get loose. I've even looked in the slots and in nooks and crannies for hidden screws. Don't know what it is; but the top just doesn't want to come off.

That why I thought it just might be better overall to find someone who repairs them.

Maybe it has those clips that flat screen tv's have now. I have tools that are made of malleable plastic that bend when too much pressure is used so you don't break the clips. Maybe they would be good here.

Hi, we do computer repair in Tokyo area and Saitama. We could have a look at your MSX if you are not sure about opening it yourself. This response may be a little late for you as I see that you asked in May, but I hope that it is useful for other people.
