Been wanting to get one for a while, but always get frustrated with all the different models. What model should I get for playing games, is there any real benefit to the floppy drive (was there much released for it)?

Just want a system that will play everything without any problem.

    Thanks

Best model to have (If you want an machine that can play anything that was made for the system) is the FS-A1ST or FS-A1GT (Panasonic)

    Be warned, they're quite expensive.

If you're into a lower budget you can go for some MSX2+ system such as the Sanyo Wavy 70FD which is an MSX2+ with two floppy drives built in.

For MSX2 I recommend either the Panasonic FS-A1F or some lower cost Phillips models such as the VG-8245 (8235 works too but they usually come with single sided 3.1/2 floppies and that's no good honestly lol )

    For drive less models there's Sanyo Wavy 35 (MSX2+), Panasonic FS-A1 (MSX2).

Honestly you want an MSX Turbo-R (FS-A1ST or GT)...

And wow about 70% of the software library for it is on floppy disks.

If you can find it (and pay the hefty premium), won't the One Chip MSX do the job?

Where do you find one of those?
    That'd be perfect for me.

Ebay and Yahoo Japan. Be prepared to pay at least 250-300$ - which is why I'd always go for a real MSX computer instead.

An MSX2+ is all you need basically. There are some game that particularly make use of the Turbo-R's extra-power, but these are text-heavy RPG's and the like. The only thing that could make ME buy a Turbo-R / GT is the great design and the fact that I'd then own a machine called "Turbo" AND "GT" :D

But as said, an MSX2+ can play everything apart from some exceptions. Stuff like Gradius 2, Space Manbow, Metal Gear 2 etc., no problems here. I can recommend the one I once had, the Sony MSX2+ F1XV. Diskette drive, autofire and slowdown functions, lots of cool LED's and high-quality manufacturing. This was loooong before the cheapo shiny PS3 crap, their MSX2+ looks badass. Of course any other 2+ is nice as well. :p

hah, well all I'd want to play on an MSX is some Falcom games, Metal gear 1 and 2, Gradius , pooyan and stuff like that.

How much cheaper is a standard MSX2 then? like the one you recommended?
